Ulysses name

this thought hit me when i was doing a remake of my main character and was wondering what Ulysses he took the name from? Ulysses S. Grant or the Odyssey Ulysses? when you talk to him in LR he tells you he took his name from history at a time where there were two flags, but both Ulysses' where involed in a time like that.

personaly i think he took it from Ulysses S. Grant but im not 100% sure

Coming from the Legion, it'd be more likely he heard about the Odyssey Ulysses, but the story he describes sounds more like Grant.

Kinda cool like that though. Odyssey would be a tale that's important for the Legion whereas Grant would be a historical figure likely important for the NCR, and yet both of them can apply to our Ulysses. Kinda shows similarities on both sides.

I think writing wise, his story is meant to mirror Odysseus/Ulysses, but the name itself he derived from Ulysses S Grant. With an Int of 7, you can pass a check that basically says something akin to 'So you took your name from Ulysses the man, not the myth?'
