Kross vs Carb

Post » Sat Sep 12, 2009 10:30 pm

I've noticed a lot of people saying that the Carb-9 is overused. I'm rather wondering, "why?". Is it because you've got a special skin for it? Or do the stats just seem better?

I'm really loving the Kross right now. It seems more stable, the rate of fire is amazing, and if you fit a high capacity mag to it you get 52 bullets per clip! Also, it looks cooler.

I usually run a medium body type, so I have the a COGA-equipped assault rifle for long range and an SMG for close range. The Kross just seems to win against the Carb every time. Stick a speed sling and red-dot on it and you're made.

Thoughts?

CARB-9 has the highest damage. It's offset by being rather hard to control, and useless outside of medium range, but people go straight for it for the damage.

If the SMG is my primary, I tend to favor the Bulpdaun with a greeneye scope. If the SMG is my secondary (which occurs more regularly), I tend to choose the Kross with the 70-round drum magazine.

I prefer the KROSS also, but neither are my fave. I'm just like st nick here in that I find the KROSS to make a better secondary because the ROF is so lethal for finishing people off, where as the Bulp's slower ROF and better stability make it more of all rounder and therefore better as a Primary.

I used to use the KROSS but I just switched to using the CARB-9 and I think that it is better damage wise, but I'm still used to using the KROSS :(

I generally use the Galactic or Carb because I'm usually Medium Engineer and when I run out of AR ammo I want something with good damage to substitute my AR until I get some ammo. I love the Kross, don't get me wrong, but I find it better for switching in the middle of a fight to finish someone off if you need to reload your primary. I don't like using it as a substitute for an AR.

All SMG's have the same ROF. It's hard to tell, but Den Kirson proved it when he peeked into the code.

I use the Kross with the front grip and the only reason why I use the Kross is because I can get long range kills with it because it's so stable

I'd probably use both at the same time on a Medium, tbh:

Carb w/ 4-vent MB, foregrip, high-cap mags and YeoTek RDS for point-blank and CQC.
Kross w/ 4-vent MB, speed sling, high-cap mags and YeoTek RDS for close to mid-range.

Carb dominates in close quarters but is trash beyond that. Kross is just all-round reliable. If I had to pick though, it would be the Kross by a mile.

Interesting... my experience/choice still stands but that's good to know. Cheers.

There's a lot of apparent discrepancy between his findings and the results of independent testing done by PS3 players though, presumably the XBox stats will either match PS3 or be different again.

With the speed the SMGs fire at, it's hard to pick that specifically, but his stats on certain attachments which supposedly do nothing are provably incorrect on PS3.

Considering I only play Light anymore, I use the Kross when playing Engineer, and the Carb-9 when playing any other class.
