I voted moderate. I always assume the middle setting is the difficulty the developers intended the game to be played at. Would probably go hard for all subsequent play throughs though.

There was a thread on this earlier today.

I'll play on the default settings until it gets too easy and I'm too used to it.

First off there are 5 difficulty settings, novice being the medium setting I believe.

Second, play the tutorial of OB on very hard setting and try to take on 3 Goblins at once.

I pretty much leave the difficulty right in the middle the whole time.

So, is there going to be a hardcoe Mode?
As in Diablo 2 hardcoe. Your char dies, it is gone. Dead, Nada. Game Over. Redo from Start..

Not saying I'd play that but that would be awesome as nothing keeps you awake like real hardcoe.

Don't reply saying 'just delete if ya die.' Not the same thing.

That said, given the options I see listed here, I guess 'moderate' to start just to see how rough it is. If it is too wimpy then I'd go to a meaner setting.

I play on default difficulty.

The only time in my entire nine years of playing Elder Scrolls games that I changed the difficulty slider was when I played the main quest in Oblivion. I lost interest in Oblivion's main quest about 3/4 of the way though. But I really wanted to see this darn statue everyone was talking about. So I put the slider on easy so I could race through the rest of the main quest. I saw my statue and put the slider back on default.

I tend to always play on medium difficulty for any game. In fact the only time I can remember ever ramping up the difficulty was for ME 2, and that was only after my first playthrough.

I always play on the default setting, there was a reason the slider starts there.

I like playing a game, the way it was meant to be played. I assume Moderate is what they mean for everyone to start on. Easy for people who have never had experience in this kind of game before. And hard after you'v gotten use to it. I'm sure you can change the difficulty in-game just like Oblivion. ( Or at least I hope so ). So If I need it harder, I'll make it harder :)

Most mass consumer games these days are way too easy to not play on the hardest difficulty setting, barring "fake difficulty" :flamethrower:

I play everything on the Hardest difficulty first time through all the time because it gets me into the game. It helps me role-play too because it's like I am that character and they only have "one" life to live. Except for the random times when I die. I just pretend it didn't happen. :)

I hate to admit it but even Oblivion on default setting (right in the middle) cen be quite the challenge at times.. So I'll probably remain going Normal with Skyrim.

Not the hardest, but the one below that, and above normal.

I doubt I'll change it, so I'll go with 'default'.

Game Informer dude said he turned the difficulty all the way down to Novice, so Novice is the easiest.Apprentice is probably after that, then Adept, Expert, and Master.
