What if Skyrim Isn't what they say it is?

Post » Tue Oct 18, 2011 1:07 pm

I'm a little scared to see what the Final shipped version of Skyrim will contain. I hope to see what ive heard straight from the Devs and and footage in the game. so why am i worried?

Oblivion's Big sell point was it's AI they even made a video of it which made it highly dynamic. ( IF any of you remember the one with the dog and the lady in the house). I fear that the same thing will happen with the Dragons being unscripted or maybe not doing all the things they did in the recent demo.

And to add this other small topic into this thread so i dont have 2 multiple threads spamming the forums is the PR with Werewolves.

I feel like the Lack of response to the claims of werewolves appearing or not appearing in the game distasteful. Sure it's not going to cause even a 1% loss in sales. But leaving Fans of the series Hanging with an awnser of " Play the game " and then Possibly Not having them in the final product and getting a big " well you played!" I understand that Bethesda wants to have secrets in the game and for us to find out for ourselves however i feel this is the worst way of doing it.

Things like this should be dealt with delicately. I'm sure in a game like Skyrim we will find stuff that hasnt been talked about, So why not a simple yes or no? What if you said this to spears? Because the demos would have made the reveal of no spears is my guess. The demos also revealed Vampires, However so far not one article that dealt with a playthrough of the demo said a single thing of seeing werewolves anywhere. Unless this is a small thing to add in the final build it seems pretty clear that in fact Skyrim on the shelves by 11/11/11 will not have werewolves (that or werewolves are very reclusive and rare) so why don't you come out and admitt this or just tell us its in?

If they are in? happy people! if they are not? happier then when you just led them on to find out they in fact are not. The reveal if they are in or not wont be a BIG reveal. It won't cause anyones jaw to drop.

TLDR: Can we trust Skyrim? Why such foggy awnsers?

Also im excited for 11/11/11 and No other game can keep me interested. NO MATTER WHAT this will be my GOTY as Bethesda does quality work with games.

Beth didn't get final 360 hardware specs until a few months before launch. This time, they've had 5+ years experience with current hardware.

This. They got to work with the 360 specifically this time. I think the AI is fine.

As for werewolves, I don't care. It's bad enough there's vampires.

Werewolves balance out the terror we know as Edward Cullen--I MEAN, vampires. They kill each-other, as adversarial nemeses. What's not to like about this, especially from someone who doesn't like either, like you?

why would you compare skyrim to Oblivion, wouldnt you want to compare it to something more current like fallout? which was exactly what is was advertised to be

the reason that Oblivion was so messed up is because they didnt get the new xbox until very late and did all the previews in fallout, but skyrim is doing them all on the xbox

Don't bait me into a flame please.

I just think those two fictions have been played out for too many years now. I grew up with it, so did my dad, and his dad. It's old. Nothing edgy or interesting about them anymore. Just my opinion.

Don't be baited into a flame, please. :P

But they're quite different in regards to TES. And there are plenty others besides wereWOLVES. There are WereBears (pretty beastly, actually), Wereboars (also interesting), etc. Very unique take on the whole thing.

I understand it's your opinion, but please put my words above into thought...

I'll bother you no further.

After Fable 2 and Dragon Age 2, I've trained myself to be unaffected by game hype. So I fully expect Skyrim to be terrible, and I fully expect to be pleasantly surprised by it.

I think none of us want to head down this track, i.e. the twilight talk.
IMO twilight butchered vamps and werewolves, they were much cooler and better done in mythology and books/films before then (like underworld and a lot more) so why not go back to what they were restore vamps/werewolves to their former glory,

Anyway i agree with the OP about them not revealing werewolves, seriously wtf just tell us if they are in or not so we can move on.

Apart from all that crap, seriously excited for this game and cannot wait, so eager to pick up my CE!!!!

I can't think of vampires and werewolves anymore without Twilight coming to mind, and I didn't care for them before anyways. Like Brutalis said, they have both been done to death.

You have to look at the reveal of game features from a marketing standpoint. Now, we understand the reason to hype up game features, there's no need to explain it. Now, everyone is asking about a feature of our game that we haven't revealed. It's not in the game, do we act mysterious about this like we have about things we don't want to spoil for our customers or reveal that it's not included? What is the upside to acting mysterious? Well, we build the hype without lying, and it's standard for many questions so it's somewhat deceptive, and if we have to/are planning to we can do a dlc based on this. Upside to saying it's not included? None. There is no upside to it. And then if we want to make it later we look like liars.

You are wrong about the werewolves thing, buddy. They did answer. They said, ever since the fan interview, theyy want to leave it an open question. So...they did answer. They are not going to change their mind because of you. Most of us want to PLAY THE GAME instead of reading endless previews detailing everything there is in the game.

This is why I'm trying to keep my hype down.

I bet Skyrim will turn out fine, though.

You know, the OP has managed to bring up something that just struck a chord with me.

Far as I know there has been no mention of gay werewolves or vampires either.

Troubling, no?

I'm not sure why this thought bothers me, but it does.

Now I"m even more troubled.

Your coming off as stupid right now. Movie quote. Don't take in offense OP. But, I think the game will turn out fine. I also have lowered my expectations so I wont get let down.
