Have you ever thought maybe they tried to pronounce Argonians and couldn't so didn't wanna sound dumber?

What? Argonians are so easy. The hard one is the cat people.

I think you guys believe I am more emotionally involved in this than I really am. I wanted to post the link and have a debate over it haha. I do believe that it should be common knowledge if you start mentioning opinions from Oblivion and Morrowind though. If you state "One thing I noticed that was different from Oblivion was..." then you should at the very least know the names of the races. That isn't even the surface of the lore so it's not expecting much. Did it bother me? a little bit but I still shrug my shoulders to their ignorance. Do I really care all THAT much? not entirely. Does it make me question some of their validity or the information that might be passed on? Yes. I honestly expected them to talk about horse armor or encounters with friendly dragons. I do think that a little research is required before you start spouting off like you have an opinion of something too otherwise how will people take your opinion seriously?

I just say Khajitt like I'm coughing up a hairball sorta I dunno if its right or wrong when it comes out but I don't make video reviews so it doesn't matter if I can say it well.

Also, "professional" is a word that does not apply to video game journalism.

Well it should be. I got tired of reading articles written by idiots who did the same exact thing they saw in the E3 demo a long time ago. I can't bring myself to read anymore of them. And the same idiots are the ones who give reviews. People like that have no place doing what they do.

Not everyone has knowledge of everything with every ounce of lore nailed inside their head XD. It bothers me a bit he called them that but I have to face the reality of it all first!

Actually, I've noticed most previewers calling Argonians "Lizard men."

I think it is just to simplify it for the folks new to the series.

This.

And they are lizard men.

Would you be so annoyed if someone said 'I met some black guy the other day' instead of 'I met an African-American homosapian the other day'.

They should of said 'This is an Argonian, for people unfamiliar with the TES series, they are the Lizard guys/men.'

I called them lizard men at first as well. I'm sure that in time they'll learn the names of all the races, just like I did.

I want to be a video game "journalist". Being ignorant for a living. Lovely!

Edit: It's quite alright to call them Lizard men when previewing for a larger audience. However for these 2 lads it seems they're talking to each other rather than to their audience, which atleast makes it seem incredibly stupid. Especially considering atleast one of them has already played about 6 hours of Skyrim collectively.

A game reviewer may know a lot about gaming but have little-to-no knowledge about TES lore. In my opinion it doesn't mean they're less qualified to do the review, it just means that I'll read that review with a grain of salt.

Getting the name of a race right has very little to do with lore and a bit more to do with actual research into a game. Rather than just randomly walking into the booth Bethesda have set up and afterwards doing random stuff effectively wasting your 3 hours and giving your readers/viewers very little news.

they are a joke if you have a job you get paid to do as well as getting the honor to play something with the magnitude of skyrim the least you can do is remember the name of the race you chose to play as, how hard is that? Im not saying know the history of the elder scrolls but at least show some compitence in your job for god sakes.

Excuse them? I thought it was interesting to listen to people who are obviously new to the game.

Well, calling them "lizard guys" make them sound unprofessional. If I were one of them, and I didn't know how to pronounce the name of their race, I would do one of two things:

#1- Ask one of the developers, before I'm on air, to show me how to pronounce the word "Argonian".

#2- Say "Lizard folk".

Or stumble on the word for 15 seconds for the sake of entertainment.
These guys have no credibility anyway; why not make it entertaining? ;)

I love how people think it must really bother me. Some people are allowing their judgments to take their imaginations on a wild ride hahaha. Listen, it is a good debate obviously as everyone in here has their own opinion on this subject. Just continue to keep it friendly please and respect each other for their difference in opinion.
