CTD after running TES4 LodGen

Post » Thu Oct 20, 2011 4:02 am

I have almost no mods installed other than mine, some DLCs, and two-three others. Everything was working fine. I decided to add another mod, and went to click "Boss" in the short cut link in Wrye Bash, and clicked on the TES4 LodGen by mistake. I let it run it's course. Now I can't get Oblivion to launch.

Does this mean a reinstall?

And also, I've run TES4 LodGen in the past and not run into this issue.

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I tried rebooting and rebuilding the bash patch. No go.

Since you have tes4lodgen downloaded already, have you tried running it from it's own folder and exe to see if that fixes it

I can't help with any Wrye Bach issues, however, if it comes to a re-install, I have an alternative for you, and I am surprised no one ever mentioned this wonderful tool.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20258

I found this tool while trying to avoid a re-install, and saved myself some time using it. It makes your Oblivion install "barebones" like a fresh install.

I follow a particular process when I use the tool:

(1) Back up all Ini files for all active mods.
(2) Export Bash Patch config.
(3) Uninstall all BAIN mods and Omods (If any).
(4) Back up Bash settings in Save directory (Just in case)
(5) Run the tool.

I usually leave the Bethesda content, Wrye Bash, OBMM, and saves options alone, but delete everything else. The tool will also make a backup of the files if you desire to do so. Might be worth it to also uninstall Wrye Bash to have clean slate, but back up the settings files.

I am done rambling on about the tool, good luck.

Edit: I put too much thought into my posts sometimes, glad the issue was resolved, but it is a useful tool regardless.
