"Dalam! Dalam you dark elf pig!" Dalam felt a hand grip him and pull him back, his Sergeant, a tall bulky nord sized him up. Sounds were beginning to come back to him, screams of people dying, the roaring of their opponent and the crash of orders as they echoed around him "You better not be running from battle son." Dalam looked behind the nord and inspected the others that were crouching down. He frowned and placed the helmet atop his head, his shaking hands making the action clumsy and awkward.
"Give me your spear." Dalam stated, his voice was shaky and hoarse. Cautiously, the Sergeant handed the imperial steel spear, it's crimson wrappings hidden by Dalams large dark hands. Without looking back at the nord, Dalam leapt to his feet and looked over the boulder. Towards his opponent.
The dragon perched itself atop a small hill, its' massive tail whipping against the cold air while it's fire scorched the earth, melting the ice around it. A dozen or so well armed imperial soldiers surrounded it, they fired arrows, bashed shields and lept magic from their hands but the dragon shook it all off. It's massive black scales seemed impenetrable, it's bright blue eyes seemed to stare into a mans soul. At first, Dalam hesitated but quickly charged towards the beast. His deep red eyes scanned the terrain, they were surrounded by tall cliffs with snow covering it all, No escape. The dragon roared again as a spear plunged through it's wing. It staggered back and ripped it out with it's teeth before pouncing upon the attacker and eating him whole. At the sight a few fled to cover allowing Dalam to get near the beasts feet.
He was close now. So close he could touch it. So close he could hear both their heart beats. He blinked and time stood still. His senses were hightened, he could smell the snow, hear the birds in the sky and see every minute detail. He heard shouts of appraise from his fellow soldiers, he could see the dragon watching him, it's snout a few inches away from Dalams head. He didn't feel fear, it was as though the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders and thrown to the wind. He watched as he slowly thrust the spear tip towards his opponent, the scales reflecting off of the cold steel. Red eyes met blue. Darkness.

Falkreath Ranger report, Morndas 4th, Morning Star
Another dull day, the snow seems to have settled so I've offered warnings to travelers and farmers about ice but they all know already. It seems I'm never telling them something they don't know. Heard a report about bandits further North, will investigate tomorrow with Andre, he seems hesitant but I'm sure by the time we get there the bears will have dealt with them.
Bjork mentioned something about taking holiday leave, I don't wish to cause drama, but I placed mine in three months ago and have yet to hear anything. Please can I hear about my holiday leave? I have family up in Riften and I haven't seen them in months. Especially as the new year just came about and I did nothing but scare off drunks. Hell, all I'm ever doing is scaring off drunks!
Bannermist Tower has once again changed hands, what happened to the people we stationed there last time? Please request an excursion to the tower and take it back. Damn bandits probably, but you can never be too sure who's walking about these days.
I spoke to some Khajiit traders, they're camping outside our city and I've posted Andre as temporary watch for this evening, I'll be taking over when I'm finished writing this, damn furballs can't keep their hands to themselves.
That should be it.

Even the damned citizens are treating me like filth! I came to Halfmoon Mill today warning about ice and potentially slippery roads and they laughed at me! I've been here five months, guarded against all sorts of stupid threats and they still laugh at me! Dogs! They said I should maybe go back to Morrowind to play with my yurts and leave the big stuff to experienced men. If only I wasn't in this damn uniform. If only I could get away with it!
On the topic of people I'd like to kill. Bjork, the stupid nordic brigand that calls himself a Falkreath guard but is nothing more than an imposter with a sword has confirmed his time off! The oaf spouted it in the barracks today, obviously making sure I overheard. I swear, why did I come to this boring town if I'm being treated like a second class citizen? Oh well, I placed a nail in his boot today so he should get a nasty surprise tomorrow morning. No traveling for Bjork! Victory? Check.
Walked around Bannermist Tower today, managed to spot a few unfriendly faces, didn't hang around too long though. If it's filled with people that can fight the bear hordes around here I wont be troubling them. I do wonder what happened to those we stationed there earlier though. Are they dead? Are they hiding? Were they called away? What? No word from the officers but I've asked them to investigate it so we shall see.
Furballs came poking their whiskers into city business today. Asking how trade was, what people wanted, I told them they can go find money somewhere else. We don't want their kind around here. Probably a bit harsh but I don't trust them. Never have, guess it must be the dunmer inside of me.
Today wasn't a total waste though, I got to speak more with Andre, the Breton from Winterhold, he mentioned something about being a mage. Perhaps I can ask him for advice? This conjuration nonsense doesn't make any sense to me. Like I mentioned, I've been reading some of Liminal Bridges, Volume 1 - No idea what it's talking about. I'm sure he will though. Lied about bandits on the report today, stated I'll head out with Andre tomorrow which should give us some time to bond and hopefully talk magic.
Anyway, signing off now as I have to go check up on Andre, maybe get some reading done.
