Understanding the Thalmor

I doubt they can be now. Maybe I should follow the Nerevarine to Akavir.

Uniting Skyrim, Cyrodiil, the Hist and Hammerfell against the Thalmor... And victory might still not be impossible... Or, we can let Alduin eat the world, accept getting recycled into new bodies and restarting the world. Because that is what happens, right? If Alduin eats the world, everything the Thalmor has done would be forfeit.

I'd rather let the Thalmor mutilate and torture me than let those lizards live another day, much less back into the empire.

Everyone teaming up under an Empire is a horrible thing. Why? Because if the Thalmor starts to win, Cyrodiil will because the most important thing for the Cyrodiils to defend. They would gladly sacrifice thousands of Bretons and Nords to defend their city.

Redguards, too, if they didn't get kicked out for not wanting to give up all of southern Hammerfell.

As allies, yes, that is good. Under one selfish banner? No. Do not mistake an Empire for something like the Allied Powers of WWII.

Sorry. Lizards invaded my home. Anything involving lizards can kiss my grey ass.

Considering that Tiber Septim unleashed the Numidium against Alinor, warping that nations time and space, trapping wizards and warriors in parrellel timelines to forever fight it, and loads of other [censored], I'd say the Thalmor have a good reason for revenge.

And, the empire can't last forever.

Yep. Unless the Thalmor poof like the Dwemer, randomly give up, or get hit by a [censored] moon, we're pretty much doomed. Who wants to drink untill the Thalmor invade the internet?

Woah! It's you! You've returned to the forums! Cool!

And you make a great point. Some of the things that the Thalmor do are really awful, but it's not like it just comes out of nowhere. There's a long cycle of revenge at work here.

Yes, it's not like the sack of the imperial city had anything on Pelinal's genocides.

I wonder, now that Numidium has finally been overcome by those brave wizards and warriors fighting him in far of time-locations, and seperate possipoints, will there be an influx of super-powerful ancient wizards into the fifth era dominion that will give it a fearsome military and mythical advantage?

Might as well, as an Imperial its a sad time for me, but hopefully Dovahkiin gets some more responsibilities in the DLC's to take on the Thalmor before they can take advantage of the DB's handy work.

Thing is, the Thalmor want to destroy mankind, so because of that its pretty safe to say that they wont achieve it unless Bethesda want to end TES. They'd have to eliminate 4 races from existence for the Thalmor to win. I cant see that happening. TES always tends to be biased towards the human races, so its likely that somewhere down the line the Thalmor will be destroyed or disbanded.

It would be ignominous for the the High Elves' fate to be a simply mundane one. Considering how far their mythical desires go, I'd say that only a suitably mythic doom would suffice. It seems to be the trend with Mer, they meet their end or change by getting too close to the divine. Dwemer, Chimer and Dunmer...

I think we're all forgetting one thing: Skyrim has one of the last operational towers. I think we're going to have one hell of a showdown between the Thalmor and Skyrim coming up (to use a ridiculously cliche, but fitting example, think 500 Spartans vs. Persian Empire *cough 500 Companions *cough cough). No other group historically has such a track record of going against the Altmer/Ayleids, etc. No matter what happens to Titus, etc, the Nords (with the Greybeards in possession of Snow-Throat) will definitely fight to the last man.

The fall of Snow Tower is a precondition of the Dovakhiin prophecy. Who knows how that comes about.

Somebody somewhere made the observation that it's connected with the Nords being divided.

There is an alternate conclusion to the Dark Brotherhood questline which prevents the forementioned outcome.
Spoiler
By slaying Astrid instead of one of the three hooded targets you get the quest to completely wipe out the Dark Brotherhood instead of joining them.

I highly doubt they will say the Dark Brotherhood was wiped out by the Dovahkiin.
