Falmer ruins

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 3:48 am

hi guys

Whilst i was raiding through one of the Dwemer ruins in Skyrim and seeing the large amount of Falmor occupation in them it got me thinking of Falmer ruins
now i'm not really up on my Falmer lore (if thier is any) but if they where the native mer to skyrim surely their would be some sort of remnents of thier past selves either a ruined city, fort etc.
i know they have now succumbed to thier savage side but they never used to be like that.

so i was just wodnering what you guys thought on the topic?

The Dwemer took the Falmer in after the aftermath of the Snowprince. After that, the Dwemer made the Falmer blind in a attempt to make them their slaves. Any Falmer that remained on the surface was more than likely killed off by the Nords. As for arcitecture, not a clue what it would be, but I'd imagine if there was any, its been dismantled and reused by the Nords by now.

its quite sad to think of how the falmer used to be and how they've fallen from grace so much. would be cool to see some sort of Falmer arcitecture high up in the snowy mountains or something. even a book would suffice. so far it just seems like the Falmer in skyrim are a replacement for the goblins from oblivion when they are so much more than that.

Dargor, is there an in-game source somewhere with that information? I was dying to know about the Falmer as well, especially considering what we read about them in Bloodmoon, I was shocked to find out that they were disgusting inbred cannibals dwelling in the depths of the earth....

I was thinking the exact same thing. In their current state, they're the equivalent of goblins - little more than beasts, and they shouldn't even come close to being called Falmer. It's in the very name - they were mer, just like half of civilised Tamriel, and those creatures hiding in caves and Dwemer ruins are most certainly not mer.

Such a shame; a missed opporunity in my opinion to add a niche, secluded 3rd party (similiar to the Thalmor).

How far are you into the game, people-who-call-falmer-goblin-like? Because, well, they're more civilized than they first appear.
Spoiler
They have members of other races acting as servants for them in a huge dwemer city they've taken over. They also engineer moderately complex machines like self-reloading traps made out of chaurus chitin.
