I'm far from a "lore buff," but I do enjoy reading a decent amount of books throughout The Elder Scrolls. One of my favorites, in particular, was one I read in Oblivion, called "http://www.imperial-library.info/content/oblivion-immortal-blood." During this quest, I came across this same book that was in Oblivion, in a vampire's house. I just found this so fascinating, that you would only hold any significance to this minor quest if you had read the book before-hand.

I ask,
Is there any information on the "anonymous" author of this book? Also, is it fairly common to experience a situation like this, coming across a character that was perhaps mildly mentioned in a previous Elder Scrolls title? Maybe I'm not reading enough of these books, but it seems most of the side quests requiring you to kill someone, named or nameless, tends to be an insignificant character.

But this vampire really captured me. I would love to get more information, but unfortunately it seems that's where the story begins and ends. I searched all over his lair for relevant books, journals, whatever I could find, and I had no luck.

Is he a rather old elf?

The book is a standalone text; there's nothing else except what's in Skyrim.

Trust me, if there was more information on Morvarth, I would be all over it since I'm like the only dude who holds vampirism and Lycanthropy in such high respect.

The thing that really bothers me about that book in Skyrim is that the Volkihar have mysteriously disappeared from its pages.

another problem is that the priest that attacked Movarth was a cyrodilic vampire but Morvath displays the Volkihar vampires abilities of Vampiric drain and has their eyes.

Just read it in Skyrim today actually and it still mentions the Volkihar. Shame they didn't make it ingame

With that said I haven't played a vamp yet.

they are in the game, its the vampire you can play as though bethesda sadly used the same game mechanics as the oblivion vampirism with just a little tweaks such as appearance and powers, and stage 4 vampirism causes everyone to attack you on sight with the possible exception of the companions and dark brotherhood if of course you already joined them. you will later at higher levels encounter Master Vampires, Volkihar Vampires and Volkihar Master Vampires, these vampires all have frost magick and use ice-spike if i recall correctly.

Hmm I see, haven't run across any yet myself, suppose I have some more exploration to do. And if thats the case its a shame they butchered the Lore like that, from what I understand the Volkihar are supposed to live underlakes in eastern Skyrim and never come to the surface...

exactly and they are supposed phase through ice. The biggest problem for me is that nearly all vampires are hostile, there are no factions to join (not bloodline clans, factions) apart from the dark brotherhood which has a just one vampire, 300 year girl.
maybe they will do a dlc with some vampire missions...ones that includes the player's vampirism that is and not counting the cure mission.
