If Aedra and Daedra Are Neither Good Nor Evil...

Explain Molag Bal. He's so obviously, purely evil that nothing good can ever come of worshiping him. His quests in Oblivion and Skyrim involve the player doing horrible things and he's canonically the god of [censored]. How is he morally neutral. Is it like he suddenly has a good side because he's a god and can smite people if they say he doesn't or something?

Also, Dagon and Akatosh are both final bosses so it's hard to see either as "good." But Molag Bal, he's somehow even worse.

So taking this into account, how come he has shrines? Why, why, why would somebody devote their time to worshiping him? It just boggles the mind.

Kind of obvious since he's hypiced as the final boss in all the marketing. Also, Snape kills Dumbledore.

Akatosh isn't the final boss so don't worry about it.

One thing you need to understand about the TES universe is that it is dependent upon moral relativism.

Molag Bal is the physical embodiment of the concepts that are ascribed to him. He isn't evil, he is a representation of things that most mortals consider to be evil.

....who just happens to find enjoyment in the misery and suffering that it causes to morals. If he were strictly an embodyment of natural changes (through the same volcanic and tectonic forces), without the attitude, he'd be "neutral".

They all derive enjoyment from performing actions associated with their spheres, if they didn't then it would be their job and not who they are.

Just think of him as one of the big source of population control. Ya can't have too many people overpopulating an area, now can we?

If they embody concepts, then how do they get bored?

Sadism isn't necessarily evil. You have to understand that our concepts of morality don't apply to these beings. They see us as lesser creatures. Molag Bal can torture mortals and feel no more remorse than a scientist would feel for a lab rat.

A scientist is hopefully vivisecting the rat to gain knowledge, not for pleasure
Still an animal rights activist might view the scientist as evil even if most people didn't

Personally I don't much care if objectively the Daedra Princes are evil, as far as my characters are concerned (except the lunatics like the ones in the DB) anyone or anything who treats others as mere playthings for their amusemant is evil

edit: it may be a subjective pov but its also a sensible one for a mortal to take
