Hi everyone. Few ?s.

Um, hi everyone.

I posted these on the Fallout wiki forum, but received no reply. So here I am.

1. I've been thinking about the new creatures encountered in Broken Steel, as well as ways to kill them quickly and efficiently. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have not played Broken Steel before.

Albino Radscorpion - I thought about using the Dart Gun to cripple legs to buy a little time, and then dropping Bottlecap mines in it's path (Either 3 mines, or 2 mines and some good'ol 12-gauge buckshot). Thoughts?

Feral Ghoul Reavers - I'm already scared [CENSORED]less of these by reputation alone. Again, I'd probably use the dart gun, but what should I use to kill them after that? I'll already encounter reavers long before I can stock up Nuka-grenades, I'm not willing to use nukes, and bottlecap mines are a bit slow.
Should I just get the ghoul mask early on?

Super Mutant Overlords - Clueless. I would like to use a Gatling Laser (probably Vengeance), but it's likely I'll run into Overlords before that. My most powerful weapons when I begin to encounter Overlords will probably be the Missile Launcher, Minigun, Lincoln's Repeater, and possibly the Victory Rifle.

2. I read on the Fallout wiki once that Mayor MacCready would lose his dialogue options to open either route to Vault 87 if any DLC quests were finished before the quest to get the G.E.C.K appeared. (This is stated on the page Robert Joseph MacCready in the "Bugs" section.) Does anyone know about this, and which DLCs, if it's true? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else. The DLCs I plan to get are Broken Steel, Anchorage, and Zeta.

4. Are the Pitt and Point Lookout any good plot/gameplay-wise? The weapons don't seem very interesting.

4. If I proceed through the Finding the Garden of Eden quest (getting the G.E.C.K.), and I tell my followers to wait somewhere, will they still be there after I exit Raven Rock? (Assuming I didn't go over one week) This is my first run through.

5. Fallout 3 tends to crash on me after a period of time, usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours. These crashes tend to happen almost exclusively indoors. If it helps, I'm using a ASUS G74SX laptop running Windows 7. I have not made any modifications to the hardware or anything of the sort.

Thanks. - HOG

Seems good to me, they really aren't as bad as the other two. If you have the terrible shotgun, you can cripple it's legs with the dart gun and use the shotgun to repeatedly get hits on it.

Feral Ghoul Reavers - I'm already scared [CENSORED]less of these by reputation alone. Again, I'd probably use the dart gun, but what should I use to kill them after that? Ghoul mask is the easy way out, and I don't blame you. But if you are itchin' for some xp, all I can say is dart gun his legs and throw everything you got at him. Especially if you are a lvl 30. Mines would work alright but Vengeance or the Victory Rifle would probably be your best bet.

They are like miniature Behemoths. Victory Rifle would be good since it knocks people down with each hit, and they generally don't move very fast, or at all.

Never heard or encountered this bug and I have all five DLCs and thousands of hours of gameplay. Fallout 3 for me has been the most stable game I have played considering its size and that it is a Bethesda game.

4. Are the Pitt and Point Lookout any good plot/gameplay-wise? The weapons don't seem very interesting.

Yes, a thousand times yes! The Pitt is the best DLC and PL is second. They have some of the greatest plots and atmosphere this game has to offer. Consider them Bethesda's jewels.

4. If I proceed through the Finding the Garden of Eden quest (getting the G.E.C.K.), and I tell my followers to wait somewhere, will they still be there after I exit Raven Rock? (Assuming I didn't go over one week) This is my first run through.

No I believe you will get a message saying that they went back to their homes, Megaton, Underworld, ect.

Not really a computer person regarding specs and such. Do you have any fan made mods? If so you could list them and their could be a conflict.

Thanks. - HOG

Um, hi everyone.

Dart Gun is always good, perhaps overly so. It renders even the toughest enemies in the game slow, and easy targets.

Be scared, you should be. Dart Gun again is good. Or just aim for their legs and cripple them as soon as you can. Reavers are fast, and deadly at range as well as in your face. And they are ugly.

As Roughnecks said, they are mini Behemoths. Treat them accordingly.

Not seen this anywhere. Just make frequent saves so you can always backtrack. But that's good advice in general.

4. Are the Pitt and Point Lookout any good plot/gameplay-wise? The weapons don't seem very interesting.

Roughnecks is right - The Pitt and Point Lookout are the best DLC. The story, characters, weapons, everything. You will probably enjoy these two the most. The Pitt is more story driven, whereas Point Lookout is exploration. Both are great, though.

4. If I proceed through the Finding the Garden of Eden quest (getting the G.E.C.K.), and I tell my followers to wait somewhere, will they still be there after I exit Raven Rock? (Assuming I didn't go over one week) This is my first run through.

As Roughnecks said, any forced quest sequences (or DLC) will send any companions back to their default location.

For quad core CPUs, try this fix - http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/20199-fallout-3-windows-7-w-quad-core.html

Thanks. - HOG

Some extra thoughts, though Roughnecks' comments are pretty much spot on.

And welcome to the forum. :)

Albino Radscorpions - Dart gun. Then you can jump on a rock and fire. However that will still use up a lot of ammo, and the may not be anything to jump on. However you can strafe them, that is move the the side, they can't turn as fast as your character I think, and you can blast away. Even better, if you have a good unarmed skill you can strafe and slice with a Deathclaw Gaunlet (or maybe Shikebob with melee) or whatever the best unarmed/melee weapon you have. I find the Deathclaw Guantlet works wonders on Albino Rads, and you don't use up ammo.

Supermutant Overlords - Dart Gun. Then I use VATS to target any ranged weapon (eg Tri Beam Laser, Gatling Laser), while staying hidden from the ranged weapon before you destroy it or knock it out of the Overlords hands. Then you can stay away and fire. Some explosives, like strategically placed landmines work well.

Feral Ghoul Reavers. - These are the hardest. Once again Dart Gun. Have some way to avoid the radioactive poo they through. Then I like to lead them into a minefield I've set up.

As you can see, the Dart Gun is very useful.

If you have a high Sneak skill, there's a technique against reavers that's never let me down yet: wait for the reaver to sit down, then sneak right up behind it and apply the Metal Blaster to the head. Sometimes this will vaporise the reaver there and then, but not often; however, by the time reaver has stood up, turned round and growled at you, you can get off enough shots to kill it.

Depending on what level you are, Paralyzing Palm perk will take care of these but it's level 18 and you have to build up your unarmed skill. Dogmeat can kill anything with BS installed.
