Chapter 1 ( A little short. Sorry)
Year: 2285 Time: 9:45 P.M. Location: Megaton.

It was just the four of us when things took a bad turn. A night at "Old man Moriarty's" Saloon. There was Jack Brown, a pretty big guy with a scruffy beard and unsettled hair. Then to his left was Kurt, a young man with brown hair and a scar through his left eye, he was small but fast. To Kurt's right was a woman named Ayla with light brown hair in a ponytail. She was a slave that we had saved months before. Then there's me, Austin. The total gun nut of the group. Most people say I'm just a nut with a really good hair cut. After a couple hours of relaxing and having fun, things went bad. Really bad. We heard gunshots and screams from outside. Bounty hunters come slamming into the saloon a second later.

"Oh god." I heard Moriarty say from behind the counter.

I grabbed my Hunting Rifle and 10mm pistol and ran through the back with Ayla. Jack and Kurt stayed and distracted the hunters.

"C'mon I know a place to go." I said quietly.

I led her to the Simms' and knocked on the door. Harden Simms opened after a couple moments.

"Come in." He said looking around.

I walked in with Ayla and said "Stay here okay?"

"Where are you going?!" She said raising her voice a little.

"I'm gonna go help Stockholm up above the gate!" I said climbing through the hatch out on the roof of the Simms' house.

When I got to Stockholm's post at the top of the Megaton gate I saw the old guard dead on the floor with his sniper rifle in hand. Oh god they killed him I thought. He was shot square in the chest. I looked out and saw that the bounty hunters had come with many soldiers just in case any tried to escape the town. I cursed under my breath and started taking out as many as I could. There was no point though, there was too many. I ran back to the Simms' house.

"What happened to Stockholm? Is he okay?" Ayla asked nervously.

I sighed and said "He's dead. Shot in the chest." I was trying to forget what I just saw but couldn't.

We ran out of the house after that. I took a couple of minutes and managed to break a piece of the town's wall big enough for Ayla to fit through. I handed her a 10mm pistol and told her to wait at Vault 101. I managed to make it back to the saloon in one piece. I found the place a bloodbath the 15 seconds I was conscious in there. That's right 15 seconds.
when I walked in Kurt accidentally shot me in the shoulder.

"Oh--aw man." I choked out and then fell on my back.

I managed to hear Jack say "Austin!" before blacking out.

I had never been shot before that. Let me tell you...it hurts like a [censored]. I woke to the sting of a Stimpack and the feeling of a wrap tightening around the wound where i was shot. We were in front of Vault 101 when i woke up. I looked up to see my three friends. I got up and looked towards Megaton to see it engulfed in flames and explosions. Kurt handed me my rifle when i got up.

"This is bad! Really, really bad!" I said yelling.

"No [censored] sherlock!" Replied Kurt quickly.

"Ya' know what--" I started walking towards Kurt but Jack stopped. I looked at the father figure of my life and knew to stop.

"If those hunters will destroy a whole town just for me, there's no place we can settle." Ayla said.

"Unless we start our town." Kurt said with a grin.

"Are you kidding?!" Jack said as if Kurt turned crazy.

I wasn't listening to their argument, I was too worried about Megaton. When the others stopped arguing there was a loud groaning and screeching noise. The walls of the great town of Megaton had finally come down.

Chapter 2

The raiders and bounty hunters walked out of the ruins seeming to be fighting a little militia of surviving town's people.

"Jack, and Kurt go help the militia! Ayla go with them!" I shouted the orders like a General.

They ran down and I started taking raiders out with my rifle from the entrance of Vault 101. I saw a raider with a sniper aiming at me and I ducked trying to not get shot. Thankfully he missed but he told one of his "buddies" to come up to the vault and take care of me. I got a steady aim on the sniper and shot him. I started again to take out other raiders not noticing that there was one coming up the hill. I reloaded my rifle and started aiming down the sights. Right before I was about to start shooting, I felt the sharp pain of getting kicked in the ribs by a boot. The impact of the kick made me drop my rifle.

"Hey what was that for?!" I said turning to realize it was a raider.

He threw me against a dead tree and started pounding on my face. After minutes of taking shots to the arms protecting my face, my arms finally dropped. I started getting blows to the face. After about three minutes of fists to the face the punches stopped. I looked up at the raider's face to see that a small throwing knife was lodged in the side of his face. I instantly recognized the accuracy and clean cut of the throw from the little.

As I watched the dead body drop to the floor I heard a familiar voice say "Saved your ass again little bro."

I turned to the side to see a man tall and skinny but still pretty buff. He was wearing tattered clothes, there was a hole in his shirt where he had been shot in the chest. That man was my big brother.

"Ash? I thought you were dead." I said still against the tree.

"I'll explain later. C'mon let's go." Ash said tossing me my Hunting Rifle.

We walked towards the Megaton ruins and signaled Jack, Kurt, and Ayla to get out of the fight.

"Ash?!"Jack said as if he thought it was a ghost.

"Yeah it's me. C'mon I have a place to stay for the night." Ash explained.

We walked for about 45 minutes and then arrived near a lake. There was a little house that looked new but not painted. It was pretty simple really. We walked in and I noticed it wasn't much. Just a couch, table, and a couple of chairs at the table. Also a hole in the floor for...I don't know really. Maybe it was the [censored]ter, I don't know.

"So Ash tell us how you survived that accident at Rivet City." Jack said popping open a Nuka-Cola and sipping it.

"Well you guys saw how I was shot in the chest." Ash said pointing at the scar on his chest. "Well when I fell off the side of the boat or city. I fell into the water after hitting a few rails and pieces of metal on the way." Ash kept explaining"I was brought to Lyon's Pride of the BoS by a man in suit of power armor and patched up. Then I was told to leave when I healed. Ya' know the whole thing about outsiders right?" Ash told us his story.

"So you started walking away, built this place and went to Megaton to find a huge gunfight in front of the ruins?" Asked Ayla.

"Pretty much. Oh and don't forget I pretty much saved you." Ash said grinning and pointing at me.

"Yeah, yeah." I said.

The rest of the night was pretty serious after that conversation. I could tell Kurt was freaked out about what happened earlier that night. I'm pretty sure he wasn't the only one though. When I woke up I didn't see my old, beat up Hunting Rifle. Instead a cleaned and repaired Assault Rifle. I got off of the couch I slept on. (I called it.) I walked into the kitchen part of the one room and one floor house.

"What happen to my old rifle?" I said holding up the new Assault Rifle.

"That ole' thing? I took it for repair and cleaning." Ash said wiping sweat of his forehead with a piece of cloth.

"So I can keep this thing?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah it's all yours bro." Ash said starting to repair my old rifle on a workbench.

"Ooh nice gun Austin." Said Kurt wiping his Katana. Did I mention he has a sword? I don't think so.

"See ya' got a new gun. Lucky." Said Jack walking into the house.

Ayla didn't say anything about it. What's her problem? I thought. I didn't know at the time. We packed up and left a couple hours later. Well, Ash packed up anyway. We started heading towards D.C. Ash said he had to visit someone at Underworld. So we started heading that direction and ran into a metro.

"Ash why are we heading towards a metro?" Said Ayla.

"Don't you guys know? The only way to get to D.C. is through the metros." Ash said acting like we were kids.

"I don't know Ash. Even I'm a little scared." Explained Jack seriously.

"Jack's right! He's never really afraid to do anything! You know that, we were raised by him!" I said pointing at Jack.

"Just come on." Said Ash acting like a tough guy even though he was probably screaming inside.

I sighed and then walked into the metro after the rest of the group. It seriously dark when we walked in. The only light was the flickering of an old electric wire. I kept my gun ready and my finger on the trigger. I could tell everybody else was too. I stayed in the back to make sure nothing was following us. I got scared every time I heard a drip of water or a groan from the old metro trains. Or the spark of electricity from something. I couldn't see anything until we got into a hallway that still had some light posts working.

"Jack you there?" I asked whispering not looking back just in case something would pop up.

"Yeah we're all here." I heard his deep voice whisper back.

I sighed and then got surprised when i got 4 cuts in the face by a slap after hearing a hiss. The cuts went through my left eye to the middle of my left cheek. I fell to the floor from the force and heard shooting. Also a whole of hisses and screams. Ash lead us into a nest of ghouls.

That's pretty good, I like how you placed it to the Capital Wasteland, are you planning on taking it outside of the CW though?

That would be very interesting.

Chapter 3
Time: 10:00 A.M.

Jack grabbed my shirt with his left hand and started dragging me to cover and shooting ghouls with his right hand. He left me under the escalators with his lucky M9 pistol. He left me and started shooting with his shotgun and my assault rifle. Bad ass right? So I sat under the escalators and was shooting ghouls in the head. Damn why is there so many? I thought shooting. I have to admit it was hard to ignore the cuts. When I started reloading I heard hard breathing.

I turned around and saw a ghoul. "Oh god." I said.

The ghoul went to hit me but i dropped the ammo clip I had in my hand and flipped the ghoul over. Luckily the clip landed on my boot and I was able to kick the ammo clip into the M9. I shot the ghoul in the eye killing it. I ran over to Ash and the rest of the group.

"Ash we have to go!" I yelled over the gunfire.

"Yeah I know. C'mon guys!" He ordered us.

We started running to where signs were leading us along with a map Ash found of the metro in a ticket booth. When it got dark we decided to go quiet. I couldn't help but thinking how the hell the rest of the group could see until Kurt handed me so Cateye.

"Here ya' go Austin. This will clear things up." Kurt said and gave me the bottle.

I took some of it and put the bottle in my bag. I stood still until the Cateye kicked in. When it adjusted I could see Kurt looking at me while Ash and Jack looked at the map and Ayla was reloading. She hadn't said anything all day. I needed to find out what was wrong.

I walked up to her and asked "Hey what's your problem today?"

"Nothing." She started "I am just thinking about what happened."

"Hmm. Alright c'mon and talk to Ash. We haven't seen him in a couple months okay?"

She nodded and we started walking again. When I finally saw light I knew we had to be out. I felt screaming and dancing but I kept cool. When we reached the gate Ash and Jack counted to three and opened it slowly. When it opened I thought I ran out first. Wrong. When I got out and ran up the escalators I already saw Kurt praising the outside.

"Don't push it." I said joking.

He ignored me and started laughing happily. Since i didn't have my 10mm pistol anymore Jack let me keep his M9. I holstered it and grabbed my assault rifle from Jack. I slung it over my shoulder and walked over to Ash.

"So where are we heading?" I asked scratching my head.

"We are heading...that way." He said pointing to my left.

So we started walking. Kurt was wiping blood of his katana when a bullet hit it. He bounced back in surprised and sheathed it. In the CW there's always raiders. But these were tough, nasty raiders. We all took cover and started shooting. It took a while but we finally got them down. We stopped next to a trader that said we could stick with him over night. His name was Crazy Wolfgang. Pretty weird but hey. I bought some Nuka-Cola and started drinking. I hadn't even noticed that the bottle was empty until I went for another sip.

"Damn." I muttered.

"Austin, we will be heading out by sunrise so get some rest." Ash said shifting his feet.

"Alright." I said laying on a makeshift bed.

I closed my eyes and fell into a deep, heavy, sleep. I woke up to Ayla shaking my shoulder. I muttered and looked up to see her face. I sat up looked around to find Crazy Wolfgang walking away and Ash, Jack, and Kurt gathering their things. I got up and holstered my new M9 and slung my assault rifle over my shoulder. After a few hours of peace we finally made it to D.C. When we were walking a super mutant shot Jack in the chest.

"No!!" I screamed and ran over to Jack.

"Ayla help Austin bring Jack to Underworld. Go!" Ash yelled shooting at some super mutant.

Me and Ayla carried Jack to the Museum of History. We ran into Underworld and straight to the doctor.

"Doc he's been shot." I said anxiously.

"Place down on the bed." I heard his rough voice say.

It was awkward in Underworld for me. The only ghoul I had ever seen that wasn't a feral was Gob back when Megaton was alive and well. Now here I was in a whole city of 'em. I stood next to Jack all day and night. The doctor had finally come in about a half hour after he left to examine Jack's records.

"Austin, Jack will--"

The doctor was interrupted by a high pitch beeeeeep "No. No, no, no, no, no!" I said screaming and crying at the same time.

I looked down at Jack and saw that he died holding a ring had given him when I was just a mere child. I took the ring from his hands slowly and put around my left ring finger. After that I hadn't spoken in days. Ash, Ayla, even Kurt tried to get me to talk. I stayed quiet for days due to the shock of losing the man that raised me and my brother when our parents died. He was around 44 at the time. He found us at 23. I was 21 when he died.

After days, weeks actually. I finally spoke when I was walking next to Ash in Rivet City. "Ash," I started quietly "have you ever missed him?"

"Well of course Austin he found us when you were 3 and I was 7." He replied. "Jack Brown was a good man, and he raised us right Austin."

"Yeah." I said quietly. We met Ayla and Kurt at the Muddy Rudder and sat down. "Guys where are we gonna go?" I asked quietly.

I could tell Kurt and Ayla were surprised to hear me speak.

"Guys," Ash started "What's one of the main places ever in the U.S.?"

Me, Kurt, and Ayla all muttered a "I don't know" so we all looked at Ash.

"NEW YORK BABY!!!!" Ash yelled.

We all yelled happily. But really we were all afraid of what might happen if we really did go.

Chapter 4
Time: 3:00 A.M.

We had to walk for days before seeing the great place called New York before the Great War. We had made it there without as much trouble as usual. I think it's because we took the "back ways" that's what Ash called 'em anyway. So while we were walking in the former state I saw a big island with a destroyed statue.

"Hey Ash?" I asked "What is that?" I was pointing at the island while asking.

"That?" He asked. He took out a book and flipped a couple pages. "Ah that's Ellis Island. The statue was known as The Statue of Liberty." He explained to us.

"How do you know all this stuff anyway?" Asked Ayla from behind me.

"When you loot a library you learn stuff." He said chuckling.

We all laughed and started walking. When we were walking down a street we saw a tall and wide gates with guards. A couple guards were even hanging from ropes off of the old metro tracks that were up in the air for some reason.

"What do you people doing here?" Said a man in combat armor with a shotgun.

"We're looking for someone." Said Ash

"We-we are?" I whispered to him.

"Sshh!" Ash told me.

"Hm, alright c'mon but if there's any trouble you guys are dead." The guard said harshly.

We walked in to find the streets looking exactly the same except crowded with people. It seemed like they mostly kept to them selves. Good. We walked into a brick building and walked up to an old lady in a suit behind a desk with a terminal.

"Yes, what is it?" She said looking at us.

"There's four of us right?" Kurt started to the lady "Give us rooms!" He insisted raising his voice a little.

Jeez. Kurt was the smart mouth of the group you could probably tell but he was pretty mean too.

"Kurt calm down." Said Ayla walking up to him.

Kurt saying "There's four of us right?" made me think of Jack. I could tell he saw it my eyes but didn't really care at the moment. Kurt wanted a good nap as much as the rest of us. Maybe more. The old lady pulled four keys and one to each of us. We all walked up stair into a big hallway with multiple rooms. We walked into our rooms didn't say anything. I threw my bag down onto the bed that was in the room.

"Man, when was the last time I got out of this pea coat?" I said to myself.

This whole time I had been wearing a pea coat with the sleeves pulled up to my elbows, fingerless gloves, jeans, high-tops from a Pre-War brand named "Converse", and shades. I totally forgot from all that's happened. I un-buttoned the pea coat and took it off. I put it on a table and jumped on the bed. It was so comfy that my eyes closed and fell a sleep almost instantly.

In the distance (it seemed distant) I could hear Ash and Ayla calling my name. I woke up to be in my pea coat again. Just the way it was too. Buttoned and sleeves rolled up. I went for my pistol but it wasn't in the holster that was on my belt. I couldn't see until light started coming into the room. I reached for a table i could see slightly and felt the M9 Jack gave me about 3 weeks before when he had died. I started aiming at the light and when I noticed that the person holding it was fully in I pulled the trigger. Before I knew it I heard a sword un-sheathing and something hitting it.

"Oh shi--" I ducked and dodged the bullet that came flying back to me.

"What the hell Austin!" I heard Kurt yell. "You could've killed me you mother--" I ignored him from there.

I heard somebody else come into the room. I heard loud footsteps though. Kurt turned around to illuminate who it was.

"What the [censored]!" I said in surprise.

It was Ash. He was different though. He was in power armor. I holstered my pistol, slung my bag over my shoulder, and grabbed my assault rifle. We walked out of the old motel we stayed in. It was night time...and snowing. Holy [censored] I thought.

"Ash how did you get that power armor? And know how to use it?!" I asked

"You know I got power armor training as a teenager and I looted an abandoned BoS bunker earlier." He said putting on the helmet.

I pulled my pea coat tighter because it was so cold. How was it snowing? I don't know it never did in the Capital Wasteland. Maybe because we went north more? I wasn't one for science anyway. As we walked people who were shivering and freezing gave Ash dirty looks. I'm pretty sure power armor had heating. Or was just hot to be in.

"Hey Austin, a gun shop." Kurt teased knowing how much I love guns.

"I'll catch up." I said. The rest of group walked in the store.

As I was walking a man in leather armor (probably freezing) came up to me with a 10mm pistol in my face.

"Give me your caps guns, and coat! Now!!" He yelled with the gun at my head shaking in his hand.

I stood there with a blank expression. Completely still. The man went to reach for my M9. Wrong move. I grabbed his wrist started bending it slowly. I could here it breaking slowly and painfully.

"If you touch me or any of my friends I will hurt you so bad." I said through gritted teeth. "And if you even try, the slightest try, to touch my M9 or ring. I will torture you so slowly and painfully, the whole city will here your screams! Got that?!" I explained slowly still bending his wrist.

Crack! I heard and saw the bone break and rip through the skin of his wrist. I twisted his wrist one more time and then threw him to the floor. Then I realized his 10mm pistol was in my hand. I threw it at his head knocking him out instantly. I turned to see Ash, Kurt, and Ayla staring at me in surprise.

"What I do?" I asked lying.

Chapter 5
Time: 3:30 A.M.

"Austin stop causing trouble." Ash said sternly.

"Oh, sorry for not letting that man take the only two things I have of Jack!" I said yelling. My yells echoed in the gun shop.

I mumbled and then was browsing the guns. Nothing special. I walked out to see a fight brewing up. I walked through the crowd and into the front to see two men fighting each other. I walked up and tried to stop it by talking. But the only thing I got was an upper cut under my chin. As I hit the ground my eyes started to close. I forced them to stay open and got up.

"Oh that's it!" I yelled.

I tackled the man that punched me and started pounding on his face. Ash ran through the crowd and made it to me. He managed to pull me off the man after a couple minutes of trying to get me away. I pulled out my assault rifle and started shooting the man that was on the floor bleeding. A man came up to me and pulled me away. The mayor. He looked seriously pissed off from my view.

"What are you doing??!!" He asked yelling.

The guard that I had talked to at the gate walked up behind me. I gulped loudly.

"C'mon. You're out of here." The tall guard said.

He grabbed me and led me to the gate. He threw me out. I was followed by an assault rifle to the head. The blow knocked me out cold. I woke up in a room. Tied up. A light shined in my eyes about a minute after I woke. I saw three people. A woman, a man, and another man. Two were dressed in leather armor. But one was in ripped up clothes and a weird mask with a creepy smile painted on it.

"Where--where am I?" I asked still dazed.

"You're no where." Said a man with a rough voice.

"What does that mean?" I asked looking at him. He was in the middle with the girl on his right and the other man to his left.

"Boss, we should train him." Said the man with the mask sharpening his knife.

"You're right. Oh, and Tyke get Jack. He might want to see this." Said the man in the middle.

"Tyke" walked out the room fixing his mask. My mind was now racing. Mixed emotions too. The name Jack struck me like a bomb. I started struggling to get out. The woman walked over to me and started squeezing my shoulder.

"What is this suppo-- HOLY [censored] THAT HURTS!!!!!!" I screamed as my shoulder started stinging and stiffening.

I moaned and heard the door open again. I saw the silhouette of a big man. Tall and muscular. I heard his footsteps. He seemed to be using a cane and a little hurt. Tyke shined the light on the lead man in the middle.

"This is Rick." Tyke said. Rick tipped his hat.

Tyke shined the light on the woman. "We call her Red. She doesn't talk much." The woman stood there. Weird.

Tyke finally shined the light on the big man using a cane. I couldn't believe it. I even had Tyke rub my eyes for me. The man using a cane wasn't really using a cane. It was an old hunting shotgun. I looked up to see that the man was my best and oldest friend.

"Jack Brown." Tyke said.

"I think I just [censored] bricks!" I said smiling

Jack was alive and well! How? I didn't know and I didn't care he was alive. I ripped the rope that was tying me down and jumped over a table towards Jack. The next thing I knew he was bear hugging me just like he used to.

"Austin, it's time I train you like the way I was." Jack said grinning.

"Like how to survive a bullet to the stomach?" I asked.

"Even better!" Jack said happily.

The next days, weeks, months I spent training. It was eight months after that conversation that I finished my training. I was more muscular but was still kind of "toothpick-ish." Jack now had gray hairs and I teased him because of it. I looked older myself. My hair was longer and I had a bit of a beard. I stood there adjusting my shades and putting on my pea coat as Jack walked into the room.

"Alright Austin." Jack started "You've passed your training. You are now a full fledged Hell Riser."

"Hell Riser?" I asked confused.

"Yes there are many pockets of us around the wastes." Jack said.

Jack had trained me to be in an army.

Chapter 6
Date: September 1st, 2286 Time: 11:00 A.M.

I had just found out Jack was in an army called the Hell Risers. After those eight hard months of training I was done. When I got my Assault Rifle, M9, and bag I went into Jack's room where I found the man sleeping like a bear.

"Hey! Jack wakey wakey eggs and bakey!" I said.

The old man turned towards me "Yeah, yeah I'm awake kid." He got up and stretched.

He grabbed his stuff and we headed out of the training camp. There other commanders and generals training recruits like Jack had me. We walked out of the base through the giant and protected front gate. We made it to the city I had been thrown out of eight months before because I got in two fights and killed a man.

"Jack we're going there." I said pointing to the city.

"Austin, that's the city me and Tyke found you in front of!" Jack replied concerned.

"Do you want to see the others again or not? They're in there." I explained.

Jack sighed "Alright."

We walked over to the big gates of the city. I realized I was holding onto the handle of my M9 tightly. I looked up to see the same tall guard that threw me out. He didn't seem to recognize me until he looked me straight in the eye. He went wide eyed and started talking to another guard. I knew he was talking about me because he pointed and looked at me.

"Hey! Let us in already!!" I yelled impatiently.

Jack grabbed my shoulder "Austin calm the hell down or we're not getting into anywhere." he said through gritted teeth.

The guard sneered at me and opened the gate with a lever. I walked to come face to face with the mayor.

"What are you doing here?" asked the mayor.

I pushed him aside gently. I'm pretty sure if I went any rougher I would be thrown out again. I walked up to the motel that the rest of the group had started living in. The old lady who was there eight months ago wasn't there. The new lady was young and pretty.

"Hello are the residents of rooms...B14, B15, and B17 here?" I asked calmly.

She looked and thought about my question. She put a finger telling me to wait and started typing on her terminal.

"No they are not here. I am sorry." She replied.

"Thank you." Jack smiled at her.

We walked out of the old hotel and looked around. There were three spots I suggested. Kurt might be at the casino. Ash at the shooting range. Ayla at the library. I told Jack to look at those three areas. I headed to the giant library at the other side of town. Jack called it the "Smart Side." I pushed open the doors and walked in. The place huge and filled with old Pre-War books. I saw some called Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. I went to the war sections to see the person I was looking for. Well two actually. Ayla reading a book and then a ghoul that was an old friend. I walked pass Ayla.

"Hey Austin!" He said happily.

"Hey Gob." I said grinning. The old ghoul escaped Megaton before it was destroyed and came here.

"Hey is your old man here?" He asked looking around.

"Somewhere in town." I started "So how is it being free of Moriarty after all those years?" I asked

He smiled and said "It's great, I didn't think I could take anymore abuse."

"That's good well, I got to go." I said and waved goodbye.

I walked over to Ayla and pulled her out of the chair she was in. I could tell she was mad.

"Who are you?! Get off of me!!" She yelled after I walked her out of the library.

"Be quiet. I'm not trying to get thrown out of here again!" I said

"Again? Oh my god Austin!" Ayla said surprised and the hugged me.

"Jack is here." I said grinning.

"What?" She asked.

"He trained me for eight months. I'm a Lieutenant in an army now. Jack in my Captain." I explained to her.

"Austin we thought you were dead! None of us have been talking to each other after we saw you carried away by those two men!" She started raising her voice. "We were sitting here thinking you were dead and you were being tra--"

"It's not his fault Ayla." Jack interrupted her. Kurt was behind him.

"Jack where's Ash?" I asked.

Ayla turned to me "I'm sorry Austin."

"Who killed my brother?" I asked seriously.

"Those bounty hunters who destroyed Megaton." Kurt explained.

I grabbed my Assault Rifle and walked out of town. I kept walking until I came across a big building with an emblem on it. It said "Want someone dead?"

I started killing the guards at the gates until Jack came up to me.

"What are you doing?!" He asked.

"Avenging my brother." I replied walking into the base.

Chapter 7
Time: 12:30 P.M. Date: September 1st, 2286

"Austin, no!" Jack yelled as I shot another guard in the chest.

I kept killing every bounty hunter and guard in sight. When I ran out of ammo I pulled out my M9 and kept shooting.

Ayla ran up to me "Austin you have to stop this now!" She yelled at me.

"Ayla I'm not leaving until the leader of this company and the man who killed my brother are dead." I said choking a man to death.

I dropped the man's body and walked into a separate building. I walked into an office at the end of the hallway it started in. There was a man sitting at a desk in a chair. As I walked in two men grabbed me. One was the man that killed Ash. I knew because he had Ash's throwing knives on his belt. The other was his partner.

The man at the desk looked at me. "May I ask why you come into my head quarters and kill every living soul here?" The man said. He had black hair slicked back. He wore a suit with formal gloves, dress shoes, and glasses.

"I did this because you killed my brother!" I said struggling to be let go.

"He didn't kill him." The man who killed Ash started. "I killed him." The man smiled.

I head butted him and flipped him when he let go of my arm. The other guard holding me was still shocked of what I did that he just stood there. I kicked him in the stomach and slammed him against the wall. I kept smashing his face in the wall for about 3 minutes until he was bleeding and there was big hole in the wall. Then I turned towards the boss of the company. He pointed a pistol at me and pulled the trigger. Luckily I put the bleeding and knocked out guard in front of me as a shield.

"You little." I said and tackled the boss. I just kept punching his in the face. When he finally pleaded for mercy I snapped his neck.

I then walked up to the man who was still on the ground that flip I gave him and shot him until the magazine in my pistol was empty. I walked out of the building and out of the base. I grabbed my assault rifle from the floor on the way out.

Jack ran up to me. "Austin, you just slaughtered a whole base full of bounty hunters and guards. All to avenge your brother."

"And I did a hell of a job." I replied.

"Yeah you did but...you killed so many people." Jack said with the "Why would you do that?" look on his face.

Kurt had already gone to ransacking the place and looting the bodies. Same with Ayla. I went in and joined them I got plenty of ammo and stimpacks along with a couple of Nuka-Colas. Ayla and Kurt grabbed there things from town and left with us to the Hell Raisers' base.

"Ayla, Kurt are you ready to be trained?" I asked.

"I guess so." Kurt said.

"Hell yeah!" Ayla replied with a smile.

"Let me tell you this from experience the training--"

"Isn't all fun and games." Jack interrupted me. "You training. resting or eating when not training. Mostly resting because you'll be hurting like a [censored]."

I could see Ayla wasn't as excited after Jack explained that to them. Kurt was probably scared [censored]less in general. I walked out of the room after a huge face palm. I headed to the mess hall to grab some food. After I started eating I was joined by Kurt.

"Scared huh?" I asked.

"Kind of. To be trained for eight months and be able to slaughter a whole base full of men. That's gotta be a lot of stuff in one day for eight months." Kurt replied.

"Well Kurt, you get used to it after a while and then it seems like a second nature to get up early, eat and start training ya' know?" I started. "So don't be so down about it." I said wiping a piece of food off of my mouth.

After I said that Ayla and Jack joined us with a tray of food and drinks. Ayla stared down at the food like it was the most disgusting thing ever.

"What's wrong?" Jack said eating a piece of the glob of food.

"I would rather have 200 year old food that's been through an apocalypse than this." She said staring in disgust.

"Oh c'mon it's good." I said scooping up a piece with my spoon and launching it at her.

She dodged the piece of food and said "Okay I guess I can try it." She picked up a piece of it with her spoon and ate it. "Not half bad. Bad, but not too bad."

Me, Jack, and Kurt cheered like her liking it was like New Years. After we all ate Jack and I showed them where they wold be staying. Ayla in the women's barracks obviously and Kurt in the men's barracks with me and Jack. I walked over to my bed and took off my jacket. I put it in my foot locker and sat on my bed.

I pulled out my journal and pencil and started writing. "I slaughtered a base today after finding out my brother dead. Training here changes people huh?" Then put the journal in my footlocker.

I went to bed and started dreaming.

Chapter 8 Sneak Peek
Date: September 2, 2286 Time: 1:15 A.M.

My dream was just flashing memory's of Ash. From the day I could remember to the day he got shot off of Rivet City to the last day I saw him, arguing the guards not to kick me out of that crummy New York town that so many people called a home. I awoke to the familiar bright sun shining through my window and generals drilling their recruits. I got up and stretched. After I put on my t-shirt, jeans, combat boots, and fingerless gloves I grabbed my shades and went to the mess hall. I put on my shades after deciding to leave my pea-coat.

"Hey Austin." Said Kurt running with Jack at his side.

He kept a slow pace to keep up with me. "I see Jack is already training you huh?" I teased Kurt.

After that he started to run faster when Jack told him to start going faster. I walked over to the mess hall to grab some breakfast. I ran into Ayla after I had gotten the gloppy food that they serve.

"Hey, Ayla. Have you started training yet?" I asked putting a piece of "Glop" in my mouth.

"Does it look like I have?" She started. "You're the only guy here! The rest of us are girls." She said gesturing to the rest of the people eating.

I shrugged. "Hey can't blame a guy for asking right?" I continued eating.

I left the mess hall and headed over to the gym. You're probably wondering how this place has all of this right? Well it takes up a pretty big chunk of the suburbs on Manhattan Island. There was still some equipment that made it through the war too. So this base was pretty good. I walked over to the barracks and opened the door. Kurt was sitting on his bed reading.

"Hey Kurt." I said quietly not trying to wake some other troops.

"Hey Austin. I wanted to give you something." Kurt said opening a drawer. He pulled out round army dog tags. They were Ash's old ones that he always wore.
