A completely national emergency broadcast will actually held tomorrow in the U.S. for 3 minutes. First time this has ever happened.
"For the first time in history, every radio and TV station, every cable and satellite operator, will interrupt all broadcasts, at 1 p.m. tomorrow, for a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, or EAS.

With growing threat of nuclear capabilities stemming up in certain countries in recent news, and these new emergency broadcast steps being taken tomorrow, maybe the days of emerging out into the sun to a wasteland may not be as far fetched as recent past years.
