Elder scrolls being lazy-proofed?

Post » Sat Nov 19, 2011 1:04 am

Dont get me wrong, I dont really mind all too much. But it seems to me they are just making the elderscrolls series more 'complaint proof' Like fast travel for example, never used to have that, you wanted to travel you needed to find a silt strider. Or quests, now you have an arrow telling you exactly where it is, where in Morrowind you had directions in a journal to follow. I also prefered they way the had enemy and world item/armor systems. Shop inventory wouldnt change(probably should, but not much), but now items get better as you level. And in Morrowind they had set enemies with set armors and weapons around the world. Now you need to be a specific level to see that armor inmstead of being able to walk into a cave and battle some hard bloke with ebony armor.. (that said, I havent explored much in Skyrim yet) Making you unneccassarily rich really quick. (gonna double post, on ps3 wont let me type much more. sorry. :S)

Just personal preferance but I prefered back with Morrowind where you had to work to get what you wanted. Now they accomadate for the lazy and complainers. Dont get me wrong, I love the new games. I'm just sick of games these days not having the adventure/difficulty level like they used too. This was all just an oppinion, not tyring to flame or cause offense.

Any oppinions?

dEFINETLY Agree on the waypoint...get rid of it...have npcs tell us where to look so its more realistic, difficult, and rewarding...I f we have to talk to a person then we should ask around the town, certain npcs will point us in the right direction...elder scrolls would be perfect if they added a little problem-solving to the quests

Meh, I still remember getting some terrible damned directions for a Redoran house quest. I spent forty minutes looking for that God-forsaken cave. NPC said it was west when it was almost entirely south (?).

I like it better the the new way. That way I don't search for 20 mins then boot up google to find the damn place.

You mean like removing all the cool spell effects like levitate, unlock, recall, and leaving only purely offensive and defensive combat spells? Becasue that's all the new generation console gamers ever use, or care about? No, I don't know what you mean at all.... *sarcasm*

Anyone not use fast travel in Oblivion for old-time's sake?
