Or perhaps the Amulet contained the blood of Akatosh, and when Martin shattered it, he turned into the Avatar of Akatosh. Last time I checked, however, a dragon typically signifies Akatosh.

That's an interesting way to propose the "no duh" interpretation.

Shezarr is a dragon too... And if you look at the symbol of the empire, you have a dragon that doesn't signifies Akatosh but Tiber Septim, the Dragon of the North.

I think it is Akatosh, if you look at the imperial coin you can see there this symbol and inscription: Praise be Akatosh

I don't see how that is supposed to prove anything. What if it had said "One Septim"?

I've got a quarter that says "In God We Trust" on it, but I'm almost certain that that's not a picture of God on there...

The Dragon is a Shezarrite power symbol. The gold coin is called both a Septim and a Drake.
