However I've read lots of complaints about the GOTY edition and that it crashes/freezes more often than the original. Is that true? I don't really care for the DLC even though it's a nice bonus, I just don't want to be constantly rebooting my console.

The dlc is awesome but i would say original as the dlc crashes like crazy on the goty edition. When i had it on ps3 i had about 6 hard reboots in 30mins playing anchorage.
