A possible fanfic based on the work of Greg Keyes

I have just finished reading the Elder Scrolls novels by Greg Keyes (The Infernal City and Lord of Souls.) and was instantly speculating on its ending, which I believe could be built upon in such a way to create a new and vastly open role playing experience.

Bellow is a post I made in a discussion topic regarding the books:

I thought the book was fantastic, I loved the introduction of new species via Umbriel, strange and exotic things perhaps more alien than anything else we've seen. The overall feel was great too, a constant threatening urgency which positively drove me through every page and some really good character developement. But I can't help but wonder if it ended on a cliff hanger of sorts, I mean -- Attrebus is a changed man with a possible wife at his side, an empire at his feet and yet his future empire has enemies in the form of the Dominion at his door. But the most curious thing of all was Mere-Glims ending, where both he and Fhena describe a spire in the distance. To me, I instantly thought of the "Towers" which hold Mundus together, and thought that they still could be somewhere on Mundus, another continent maybe. I dont understand how the Hist could have cousins from another dimension at all -- not to mention non-daedric dimensions. after all, it has been hinted that not only do the Daedric princes have contact with other races of Mundus (certainly they have interacted with those such as Atmorans, Akaviri and perhaps even the sload) and it's also been hinted at that there are still as of yet undiscovered continents. It would also explain the presence of all these other races who lived in the infernal city before it became umbriel, how they are simular to but not quite the same as the races of men and mer we know. It's not so impossible that Clavicus Vile could have taken this city from Mundus as part of a bargain, like a trinket to be traded and intergrated it with his own realm. [/quote]

As you can see, I have a vague Idea about how it ened, an I'm interested in following Mere-Glim's side of things instead of (for once) the empire and thus tamriels side of things. I would love to explore this mysterious and strange new world He and his fellow umbriellans have found themselves in.

It's not a fully formed story line yet, but It could go somewhere, what we do know is that Umbriel passed through different "Dimensions" and plains, we know that time moved differenty on Umbriel than it did in the intervening years of Morrowinds destruction and Umbriels appearance, it could have been traveling for decades or even centuries simply accumulating strange new species, animals, magics and relics. The inner politics of Umbriel is also a strange and interesting concept -- how will its inhabitants deal with the changes of being "grounded", how will they cope with the idea of the Ingenium being destroyed and their only known way of reproducing destroyed -- will their bodies allow them to become pregnant now that the Ingenium no longer controls the flow of souls? Will these "hist cousins" help them find their place in this new world or shape them into a new race entirely by juxtaposing the qualities of all into one?

Not to mention, what will they find on this strange new continent, who inhabits it, what is this "tower" in the distance and is it a threat, is it occupied or alone. Will the races on the continent welcome or scorn them.

And how would Tamriel and the Empire react when/if they discover that the cause of thousands of death and impending doom still existed some where on Mundus?

Not to mention the new races we might come across, they would surely be Mer/Men and beast, but of what manner? We know a cat species evolved in Akavir (I bet they are loving skyrims new introduction of dragons) as did a reptilian race for which Akavir is named for, we also know of men of akavir and other beast races such as demons and monkeys (tang mo) so what would the beast races/men/mer look like on this new continent of ours?

Ideas and discussion is hugely welcomed on this one, I'll need all the help I can get if i'm to launch this RP. Ofcourse, it goes without saying that people can roleplay any of the characters that are still living at the end of lord of souls if they dont want the difficult task of coming up with an inhabitant of Umbriel that is both strange but believable, for example -- no we dont want to see strange races from star wars or various animes etc etc. But not Mere-Glim, I call dibs.
