DLC Vs GOTY?

Post » Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:35 am

i have wanted to get some of the dlc for fallout 3, my initial thoughts were "ill just get the goty edition, that way i have all 5 for around 30 bucks". but after some searching, i found out that the game of the year edition is really buggy. So my question is this, if i got all of the dlc on the PSN, would it be more or less buggy then the game of the year edition?

no idea, but I imagine having the DLC data installed on your HDD would make it a lot more stable than the disc-based GOTY edition.

Hey, you're from my hometown!

Unfortunately I don't know how this could make sense. GOTY comes with a separate disc that contains all the additional content that you then install from it. You can't play off that disc. Onc eyou install it, you have to put the FO3 game disc back in. It gets installed right onto your HDD.

The only thing I noticed was that the game maybe ran a little bit slower, and there were some bugs like floating objects, but I found out I needed to clear my game cache (I play on the 360) and it's run fine since.

The PS3 version for GOTY is one disc, and it installs as you play. I never encountered installation screens in F3 except for patches.

on the ps3 version, its all on one disk, since they could fit it all onto the blu-ray format. so the ps3 goty edition is littered with problems.

Oh damn. I thought it was a general question. So sorry! I didn't check the category before I replied. That's embarrassing...

...and also giving me reason not to buy a PS3, haha.

I have owned both, they both run terribly.

It's pretty well known that Bethesda treats PS3 users like unwanted step-children. It svcks.

I have the PS3 vanilla version + the DLC from the PSN Store.

I would say it runs the same as the GOTY disc. Once your save file reaches over 10MB it's game over. Also it will be buggy in every area that is new from the DLC.

I'm afraid so. I've found this too with my level 30 character and 14MB game file. It crashes within 30 mins almost every time. :(
