Help with Daggerfall midi musics

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:07 pm

I'm planning on adding Daggerfall midi musics to Skyrim and need help finding good sounfonts for medieval sounding music instruments. Could anyone who knows about this help me by pointing to good free instrument soundfonts? Thanks.

Also some Daggerfall sound effects are pretty cool. Is there a way to convert these sound effects into a sound bank?

I wasn't able to find any great free soundfonts, but the available ones sound ok to me. If you find something great please post a link here :)

As for the sound effects, I remember back in the 90s some of the free sound editors could open DAGGER.SND. Maybe Audacity could do it. Otherwise try http://www.svatopluk.com/daggerfall/download/jukebox.stm

If you're more interested in the music itself, there's some remixes done by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6040YawSp0&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL242E38DC2C3DA1B7 and http://dangoodale.wordpress.com/downloads/daggerfall-remixes/ already. They're done in a much higher quality than simply playing the MIDIs with a good soundfont.

Thanks. What i wanted to do is to be able to replace just a few instruments (like a flute by a medieval sounding flute for example). Meanwhile i have been researching a little a found some things that might be of interest to Daggerfall moders.

AWave Studio can edit .sf files and extract or replace wav sound patches inside sound fonts.

SynthFont is capable of render a midi file using an .sf file to an wav and mp3 also i suppose.

From reading this page:
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=3188.0

I don't think anyone complained about the quality of midi songs with Dosbox but it seams that it can be greatly improved using a midi driver called BASSMID and a good soundfont. The link above explains what it's done with System Shock and Dosbox so it should work with Daggerfall too.

Finaly i stumbled by accident upon a page that lists Daggerfall inspired mods for Morrowind:
http://www.mwmythicmods.com/daggerfall.htm

If you scroll to the end you will find Zenogias Daggerfall music packs. This is a bit old but might be interesting.

Edit: Talking about Daggerfall remixes: http://teatimecoder.com/daggerfall-music
This has to be the most remixed gamed music i know about.

Woah, that one's great. I love it.
Edit: And so is that remixes site.
