Do I need Cosades in order to become the Nerevarine?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 2:19 am

Probably been asked before, but my search of the forums wasn't very fruitful.

Can the char become the Nerevarine without having to become a Blade and follow Cosades' orders?

A quick look at UESP spoilers describes the backdoor way to kill Dagoth Ur, but that is not a path I want to talke. From a RPG perspective, it seems to me that Cosades should be but one way to work towards becoming the Nerevarine, especially given how many times the topic Nerevarine arises in dialog.

In my current game, my char refused to accept Cosades' orders and walked out to follow his own path. The game's far enough along now that RPG he's starting to ask questions that would lead him to seek answers about the Nerevarine prophecies, but none of the dialog topics offered by the wise woman at the Urshilak (sp?) camp opened the discussion to where he could pursue the path to the Nerevarine.

If Cosades can be bypassed, what are the other ways to become Neveraine? I'm looking for legitimate ways that the game allows, not console commands.

Thanks,

John

You should be able to go back to Caius at a later time. "I've told him off", and then gotten back to the MQ about 10 levels later.

Im not totally sure about this. Whenever I do the main quest i always do the main quest first. Though I have seen people on youtube who went straight to get the artifacts and kill dagoth ur that way. Other than that I think you have to go through caius first.

Right. I can't tell you with 100% certainty but the way morrowind unlocks topics is when certain events have come to pass. And these are generally triggered by going on missions from Caius. Now, it is actually possible to skip the entirety of the Ashlander camps, depending on how you want to RP it. My advice, as to not spoil too much, read as much as you can on the neravarine, and the neravarine cult. Figure out how your character might possibly learn of the prophecy and how he can find out about the Moon-and-Star shrine. I think you can actually pull this of since its possible
Spoiler
to kill Vivec and take an unfunctional Wraithguard off of him, then get it to Yagrum Bagarn who'll fix it
so it leads me to think that Caius shouldn't be necessary. Though how you will be proclaimed Hortator and Neravarine is beyond me.

Though I might be entirely wrong on this. Lets wait and see what the folks who've experimented can tell us. I've always followed the main quest and never questioned Caius' orders. Since he is a pretty cool guy.

You can always take the backdoor route:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Yagrum_Bagarn_and_Wraithguard

It is there for the reason if you kill anyone MQ related. Other then the normal way, this is the only way.

Thanks Da Mage, but that was what I was already aware of.

It's a shame. You'd think that, with all it's open endedness, that Morrowind would have been set up to allow the player to thumb his nose at Cosades and find another way (other than the one you link) to become Neveraine and all that means.

I think there's some sort of meeting with Vivec when you reach level 20 and 50 reputation (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:The_Path_of_the_Incarnate#Bypassing_the_Fourth_and_Fifth_Trials), but I've never done that, so I don't know the details.

This has been suggested to me when I inquired about the same thing, basically.
