Just started playing Morrowind with Graphics Mods - Wow!

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 6:13 pm

Not been near this game in years.....didn't much care for Oblivion but Skyrim has awakened my thirst....

Installed it again and added a huge mod package - the MGO one.

WOW - this has blown my mind....now so many good memories are flooding back....I'm afraid Skyrim will be parked for a while as I take a long leisurely stroll down memory lane. It's like getting an old girlfriend back but now she's had a tuck and a boob job! :)

Are you using mods or just playing vanilla?

I've installed the MGO (Morrowind Graphics Overhaul) addon....it adds a ton of graphical updates plus mods and changes...makes it into a new game

Totally amazing!

MGO is pretty cool in that it easily lets people kick Morrowind up to a new level. All the changes it includes certainly makes the old gem shine even brighter.

I've bought and played Oblivion and Skyrim, but Morrowind (even vanilla) is still the best imo. Every time a new ES game comes out it just makes me want to replay Morrowind. I would even make new epic mods for it if I thought anyone would give a crap. I will probably play it every few of years until I die.

Where did you find a download link for the graphics overhaul mod? It sounds interesting and would like to try it as my first Morrowind mod. I cannot seem to find a site that has that file available for download. Thanks.

This is my first time playing Morrowind, but I've noticed that rain comes through supposedly solid building structures (such as archways). Does the MGO mod correct this?

No, but the Morrowind Code Patch does, for the most part.

I don't get the appeal of the graphics mods. I think Morrowind looks good as it is. I mean, sure it's dated, but it aged remarkably well. While I played Morrowind on xbox, I also tried it on pc with the mod, and there's a lot of things I don't like about it. It looks too much like Oblivion, too colorful (making Morrowind loose some of its charm) and some of the contrast isn't really good. It technically looks better, but I think the original graphics have more charm and "fit" more. Maybe I just played Morrowind too much and it breaks my nostalgia. Never was big on mods at all anyway, always preferred to play the original experience.

Is this the 2011 mod your talking about or?
http://www.gamepron.com/file/944/Morrowind-2011-Mod-Compendium/

Its a shame a bunch of idiots tried to stop him from distributing this.
Its just an eloge to the complete modding community he is doing, and helping people play the game again without having to install a million mods to get what he is doing in one.

Anyway is this the mod you refer to when you talk about a graphical overhaul?

Ok I found the real one. MG..xx..

Last update in version 1.3 is from August 2011.
So...Im getting this instead.

I guess this one together with the MC package that changes some game mechanics is all we need then, right?
So all in all 2 mods in total.
