Starting Morrowind again

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 2:09 am

After playing Skyrim for about 60 hours and getting to level 30 i just dont feel the need to play it anymore, didnt even finished the main quest.Game is fine but lot of things just dont feel right.
So now im downloading Morrowind 2011 overhaul and starting it again.Sadly,i dont think Beth is ever going to make a game even similar to Morrowind again.

Morrowind was a true gem. I think the mentality of game developers has completely changed over the years. The trend seems to be simplification and "streamlining". A game that makes a player feel lost and helpless in the beginning like Morrowind did, is something that has become a taboo in the gaming industry. My biggest problem with Skyrim is how is forces it's quests on you, as opposed to rewarding exploration. Skyrim is a good game, but far from the masterpiece Morrowind was.

Morrowind is my favorite of the series and I started with Daggerfall.

Daggerfall was my first Elder Scrolls game and also my first CD disc game. Before then I only played games on floppy dics.

I actually feel the same way you do. I bought the GOTY addition on xbox though. I could tell its been a while when my lvl 6 redguard assassin was taken by down two sleepers in balmora. Though I did make a Nord cleric. Used a variation on the healer to add heavy armor and block and hes doing pretty good.

And saddest thing is that if they made Skyrim similiar to Morrowind, with same graphics,AI like Skyrim already has, they would sold same like they did now..

This.

Game developers are understimating what general players demand.

Its just an extremly small amount that dont value high challenging game play.
Those are unfourtenately the ones spewing their guts out on the forums and the rest is too busy playing the game.

We want hardcoe challenges.

My hope was lit when im in the Xbox picked up Dark Souls earlier. This is an amazing game, but not as deep in story.

I love Skyrim, and I dont mind too much of the hand helding, and the combat is tough if you just stay away from the secondary skills.

I just picked up Morrowind GOTY edition myself, my cds are long lost, I never actually played it more then an hour or two, so I really look forward to it now.

I have downloaded the 2011 mod and Im hoping it will ensure my game is great.

Im just wondering what other mods I should use now, and also if Marksman is at all viable in Morrowind. I believe Skyrim is the first TES that got marksman//archery to be good.

It's problematic, for two reasons. First, MCA will generate attackers up to 10 levels above the player, right from the start of the game, in early areas. I gave up on MCA finally after a character literally fresh out of creation was attacked and killed in Seyda Neen by a couple of these. Second, MCA will fill taverns and inns to the point that you can't move through the generated characters unless you hop across the tops of tables.

In fairness, there are third-party patches that deal with the first of these issues, but I've never one to deal with the second. Another possibility is http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7749. There are no attacks on novice characters, and the mod leaves taverns alone.

I have reached level 19 in Skyrim and I don't know why, but am starting to grow bored for a mix of reasons that I can't explain that well. Skyrim is nice, at the beginning I reacted better to it than to Oblivion, but somehow I will always miss Morrowind.

It's not even the challenge, I don't consider Morrowind that of a difficult game. It's the immersion. Somehow Morrowind defeats any of of its successors. And I miss that.

So, YEAH! Let's get the GOTY edition from the shelf! :)

I am relatively new to TES series. Back in June I bought a PS3 for the BluRay player and decided to pick up a few used games while I was there. The sales guy at GameStop asked what kind of games I enjoy, and I said I grew up playing Zelda and Ultima rpg's. He sold me Dragon Age : Origins, Uncharted, and Oblivion. I was instantly hooked on Oblivion. I had never experienced an open-world game like that before. Naturally, I was stoked for Skyrim and bought it on release day. I am now waiting for the GOTY Morrowind to arrive. From what I hear, most fans prefer that title over Oblivion and Skyrim. I don't care for PC games, except for MMO's, so I bought an XBox just for Morrowind and Fable. I would love to see the first 2 Elder Scrolls released together for a console. I know they are free on Bethesda's website, but I run 64 bit Vista and can't get them to work. Oh well. I can't wait for Morrowind!
