Dont worry about it...the big picture is that some of what what happened in the time of Tiber Septim is subject to controversy

Take a step back and understand that Tiber Septim united Tamriel under him as emperor. Things get more interesting if you are willing to take the next step and study how he achieved this goal.

If you look carefully you can compare his betrayals of people, negotiations with the tribunal, conquests, etc to the same behavior on the part of Lorkhan when he was trying to get the other Aedra to join in the creation of Nirn.

From such comparisons come the conclusion that Tiber Septim Mantled Lorkhan to unite Tamriel (In case you have not heard of Mantling, it is one of the ways by with a man can transcend his mortality and become divine)

The Arcturian Heresy is basically saying that avatars of Lorkhan actively aided Tiber Septim in his task to unite the empire. It is saying that Tiber had Cuhlecain killed to take the throne and then betrayed his advisers including Lorkhan's avatar to power the Numidum....it is basically putting forward a narrative Tiber Septim would not want people to accept.

Whichever story you believe, The bottom line is that his successfully Mantled Lorkhan

By violence. Haha, just kidding. Mostly. Sort of.

He acted like Shezzar, the "God of Man," until the God of Man became him. Just how that occurred is open to interpretation and is going to be confusing. It has a lot to do with betrayals and literal cosmic retcons made by the collective unconsious of Tamriel's citizenry.

How does Talos become Tiber?

Ah. I will tell you the truth, because you will believe none of it. The Brass God is Anumidium, the Prime Gestalt. He is also called the divine skin. He was meant to be used many times by our kind to transcend the Gray Maybe.

The first to see him was the Shop Foremer, Kagrenac of Vvardenfell, the wisest of the tonal architects [Mechanists - MN] Do not think as others do that Kagrenac created the Anumidium for petty motivations, such as a refutation of the gods. Kagrenac was devoted to his people, and the Dwarves, despite what you may have read, were a pious lot-he would not have sacrificed so many of their golden souls to create Anumidium's metal body if it were all in the name of grand theater. Kagrenac had even built the tools needed to construct a Mantella, the Crux of Transcendence. But, by then, and for a long time coming, the Doom of the Dwarves marched upon the Mountain and they were removed from this world.

The second to see the Brass God was the Enantiomorph. You may know them individually as Zurin Arctus and Talos. The Oversoul was known to the world as Tiber Septim They gave birth to their Mantella, this time an embodiment of the healing of the Man/Mer schism, and, with it, Anumidium Walked. But, by then, and for a long time coming, One betrayed the Other, and the world shuddered as they split, and the Anumidium went berserk and created an Empire of Evil to house the malignant half of its soul.

Joining the two halves of the Enantiomorph resembled creation in a reality altering way. With this powerful energy, Talos and Zurin created Tiber Septim.

I wonder if something like the Empire was Lorkhan's pre-martyrdom plan all along.

The Third Empire seems closest the world's come to a compromise, between Man and Mer. Even there, one betrayed the other. Maybe Alessia, after Nirn herself, is actually closest, because she is the figurative Empire of Auriel and Shezarr. I feel like she represents every Cyrodilic Empire. Also, Skyrim is known as Ald Cyrod. Something to think about...

Where?

(her father was fond of the South, and Ald Cyrod, and knew the stories of their famous and ancient Queen)

That's the only reference I can find to Cyrod with an Ald in front of it.
