Downloaded Broken Steel - Screen Goes Black When Game Starts

Post » Thu Sep 17, 2009 12:34 am

I recently just created a PSN account specifically to download the Broken Steel DLC. After completely the download, I restarted the PS3, but the screen went black after I inserted the disc. Now whenever I enter the Fallout 3 disc this same thing happens. I don't think I downloaded either the 1.6 or 1.61 updates for Fallout 3, as I did not ever play the game when online before. Could this be the issue? Has anyone else encountered something like this, or does anyone have any ideas? I feel like I essentially paid $10 just to have the ability to play the game taken away from me.

Thanks for your time.

Do you know which version you downloaded? Check the PS Store description, and check the BLUS code on your case. Whichever DLC matches your code is the correct one.

If you did download the wrong one, try contacting Sony, I think they have a new department for Network/Store stuff now. Just patiently and politely explained what happened, and they should fix it for you. I think.

If that's not the problem, try going into safe mode and do a "file system restore." this will clean up your HDD and get rid of any corrupted data, keeping everything else. After this, try re-downloading & installing the DLC.

I'll be back with a link to explain getting into safe mode.

Edit: Here it is. Make sure you "restore file system" and nothing more. There's an option or two on the safe mode menu you really don't wanna press.

Hope something helps.
