What do you want to erase from tes history?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 5:57 pm

Because it doesn't make sense. Every time and Argonian army has gathered in TES History they've been utterly and completely curshed. It makes no sense for an army of Argonians to all of a sudden steam roll the Dunmer. Just doesn't make sense.

[censored] changes. The Dunmer were a lot weaker. The Argonians got more powerful.

Amen. The destruction of Morrowind was inevitable, but the Argonian invasion is what made me decide to pass on the books. I know the books are technically considered cannon, but I'm perfectly content to completely ignore they're existence.

The Argonian invasion actually has lore evidence. In Lord of Souls, an Argonian character says that in times of hardship, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Hist can make Argonians significantly stronger. It can change the entire shape of an Argonian if necessary.

I imagine the Hist had some involvement in the Argonian takeover of Morrowind. And I assume it will be mentioned in Skyrim, anyways, so it will be difficult to completely ignore.

It makes a lot of since, Germany was extremely weak after world war one... and then by World War Two they almost destroyed all of Europe so yeah, nothing is impossible.

Not an applicable comparison. Post-Great War Germanys economy was in the bucket, the Alled Powers forced them to pay enormous war indemedies and saw to the complete deconstruction of their military. Argonia is under no such conditions, its just never been a coherent nor united military power and when they did manage to gather they were utterly crushed. Unlike Germany they didn't go from ontop of the world to bottom and then back up, they went from nothing, haveing never been anything, to conquering southern Morrowind.

Since its conception on the behest of Prussia Germany had been a strong power, and the Prussian Army hailed as one of the greatest armies at the time. No such prestiege belonged to Argonia.

...am I the only one who actually enjoyed the Infernal City?

I mean, I'm not a total lore nerd, so that might affect it...

As others have said, the sudden, inexplicable teleporatation of Cyrodil into Middle-Earth easily takes the cake. They took one look at the lore, and were like "Hey, that Lord of the Rings stuff, that was pretty popular, right? What if we, like, made it like that, instead? I mean that way we could probably trick LOTR fans into buying it and make way more money!"

Yes, I'm sure that was their reasoning. Nothing to do with graphics or engine limitations at all.

I would like to see Mazoga erased. Are you the count? *SLICE SLICE STAB*

This I can happily agree with. I thoroughly enjoy wiping her out of existance on ever character, as soon as she's done helping me get a new house.

I wouldn't erase a thing. I never got why people only talk about the things they don't like, I had to part from the Star Wars community for that. I mean, it's there, it happened. Why not just think about the things you liked about it? Guess everybody is a critic these days, though. Ah well..... :tes:

Truth. I also stopped interacting with the star wars community because of those reasons, save for my guild on SWG.

I don't get why people don't want argonians to invade Morrowind? If my people hade been treated like [censored] for the past three eras by some stuck-up elves with their so-called gods, but then their homeland suddenly erupted, I would attack in the blink of an eye.

Indeed, they where also organised under the rule of the An-Xileel, who in turn where slaves to a Hist tree gone rogue. With their bodies still probably altered from the Hist in the oblivion crisis, more adept to combat, and new organisation it wouldn't take much to finish off the crippled Dunmer and drive them out -- hell, there probably wasn't even that many left to drive out after most of the survivors made their way to Sostheim/Cyrodil and Skyrim. Plus the great houses had been mostly abadoned after they each failed to protect their nation from disaster and thus most millitary forces (such as those from Redoran and Andarys and Indoril) had been a little more than disorganised. I don't see it as unreasonable that the Argonians could have pushed them out.

I really enjoyed both the Infernal City and Lord of Souls actually, I'd love a continued expansion of TES novels. Look at how many star wars novels there are? It could only help strengthen the backstory of the series. Plus Greg Keyes did an awesome job working with the lore and history of TES.

I don't know about erasing anything specific, but I'd like to change the general direction of the series. It seems like Beth is so bored with their actual setting and backstory that they're randomsly blowing it to pieces to make it seem darker. Not all of them make sense even. Why does Elsweyr split up? I would think that being invaded would make them somewhat more interested in staying together for mutual defense. Red mountain may have blown but I think most of the rest of Morrowind is still relatively habitable. It sort of random in some ways.

I havent seen the dark brotherhood in skyrim yet...but in oblivion their religious wierdo murderer theme was offputting, I didnt even do their quests because i didnt want to be associated with those weirdos...If it is an assassin guild, thats what it should be, someone said they should be a "business-like assassins guild", I agree...in it for the money.............Right when I entered windlelm and heard people talking about the murders, plus combined with the setting of windhelm, all I wanted to do was catch this weirdo, reminded me of some jack the ripper ish...that said why would I want to join a group of people who have a similar style to them, ya know serial murderer creep thing goin on.....................idk maybe im mistaken on the dark brotherhood but thats how they came off to me in oblivion...........

I amend my previous jungle statement to include vampires and warewolves. We'd be better off without attempting to include every fantasy requirement.

Am I the only one who liked Mannimarco in Oblivion?

Sure, at first I was like WTF HE'S JUST AN ALTMER. Then it hit me: why would the most powerful necromancer in the world look like a monster? Zombies are far scarier looking than skeletons because they look more human. Mannimarco was so powerful, he actually kept himself looking like a normal elf, not an undead creature. It makes perfect sense.

Oblivion's take on Cyrodill, the empire and the imperials. Felt like some damn Arturian, european fairy-tale realm. And as much as Knights of the Nine was interesting, the whole "crusader" thing don't thrill me either.

Id take out Knights of the Nine as official lore. Does not seem to fit the rest of the TES series. More like putting European history directly into TES.

The Thalmor invasion seemed to be too large to be anywhere realistic. It seemed like their armies were just suddenly everywhere on the continent at once. Id like a more realistic invasion please.

The Destruction of the Blades.
