Morrowind on the Xbox...

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 3:46 pm

...Is it worth a purchase?

I own and love Skyrim and Oblivion, but I'm worried that it is past its prime now.

Is there anyone out there who still plays (and loves) Morrowind on the Xbox?

[I'm specifcally addressing Xbox owners as I know PC users can use graphics mods, etc.]

Well, I've played both - many times - but I'd personally not recommend the xbox version. I'm not insane about mods but to play Morrowind I need a Face Replacer mod AT LEAST. In addition to nasty faces, vanilla draw distance and resolution is nasty.

I played the GOTY edition on my 360 it's stuck at the 4:3 aspect ratio so it doesn't look very good on a widescreen TV and the initial load screens are very slow and ugly they flicker between images. But when the game actually loads it plays fine, i don't think it looks as nice as the standard PC version though.

Don't buy Morrowind for the Xbox - especially not the Xbox 360. The game is extremely glitchy on the 360, and the loading times are hell. As an Xbox and PC player, I recommend you buy the PC version.

Processor: 500 MHz Intel Pentium III, Celeron, or AMD Athlon
Memory: 256 MB
Graphics: 32MB Direct3D Compatible video card with 32-bit color support and DirectX 8.1
Hard Drive: 1GB free hard disk space

These are the system requirements for Morrowind. Pretty much any PC these days can run it, and if you have one it's a good idea to get it for that instead of the Xbox 360. You'll be able to install a few fanmade patches to solve many bugs in the game, and have much faster loading times.

Even without installing graphics mods it's definitely worth it.

I first played Morrowind on the Xbox so even though I have it on PC I always prefer it on Xbox. I actually still own my old Xbox (gotta be one of the few in the world still running) and I play it on that because it plays like crap on the 360.

As someone who also has played both PC and XBox a lot, I have to recommend PC... for one reason. You can install the two community made patches that fix many (literally hundreds) of the bugs in the game.

(Mods are just a fun bonus)

all i have ever played morrowind on is my xbox, and i still play it often (less now with skyrim out).
if your anything like me it is well worth getting for the original xbox. even vanilla morrowind is still the greatest game ever made. (i have very little trouble overlooking load times and glitches)
that being said, pc is without doubt the way to go if its an option.

Don't see why you would think that... The original xbox was pretty well build and there are prob hundreds of thousands still in working order, including mine.

Also, I have no idea how you can prefer this game on the xbox. I have the game for both, and the PC is better in everyway. On the xbox, the loading is INSANE. Also, the draw distance is so bad, it is like you are in a world surrounded by fog. Morrowind is a lot better with texture replacers, face replacers, and better bodies.

Don't get it for xbox. Buy pc. Any pc built from 2000 on can run morrowind without any problems.

This game is excellent on the original xbox, and is perfect on the pc. I own both, and play both pretty regularly. The only differences is that the xbox version has longer load times and lower resolution. If you can, you should definitely get the pc version, but if not the xbox version is just fine.

Just a warning though, if you play it on the xbox 360 it can be glitchy. If your going to play it for xbox, you should play it on the original. I saw one yesterday at a pawn shop for $30. They're usually pretty cheap these days unless you get it on ebay.
