Ugh, CTD's are ruining Oblivion for me

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 7:37 pm

(load order below)

What can i say? CTD's on fast travel, on quicksave, randomly treking through the wilds, etc.
I thought i had it all sorted out, using the 4gb patch, a PROPER bashed patch (i read what to do a lot of times before doing it )
Finally understand OBGE
Even installed some mods using BAIN
Majority of my mods are installed through OMODS as well

What else can i try? Im sick of it. Half tempted to delete the entire game and just jump into Morrowind again and try to mod that.

I doubt the 4gb patch will help your load order much if at all. Go into OBMM and right click the mod list, and deactivate all. Then run Oblivion. Should be crash free. Activate 1/2 of your mods, I'll recommend these for you:

road+bridges.espxuldarkforest.espxulStendarrValley.espxulTheHeath.espXulEntiusGorge.espxulFallenleafEverglade.espxulColovianHighlands_EV.espxulChorrolHinterland.espxulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.espxulBravilBarrowfields.espxulLushWoodlands.espxulAncientYews.espxulAncientRedwoods.espxulCloudtopMountains.espxulArriusCreek.espxulPatch_AY_AC.espxulRollingHills_EV_withoutWheat.espxulPantherRiver.espxulRiverEthe.espxulBrenaRiverRavine.espxulImperialIsle.espxulBlackwoodForest.espxulCheydinhalFalls.espxulAspenWood.espxulSkingradOutskirts.espxulSnowdale.espxulCliffsOfAnvil.espxulSilverfishRiverValley.espP1DkeyChain.espAlternative Beginnings.espRenGuardOverhaul.espOblivion XP.espBashed Patch,

Then rebuild bashed patch. Start the game, check if its crash free. If it is add in more of your mods until you crash again. Once you start getting crashes take away mods until you stop. Then you have found your culprit. I would really recommend using BAIN for as many mods as you possibly can. It allows you to start from scratch without having to reinstall. Super nice.

Are you by chance using a high rez texture replacer? (QTP etc)
Also ensure that your system is up to the task. Even on some modern PC's the UL series can be quite taxing on VRAM and memory as can some of the shaders used by OBGE.
Try disabling those to see if your issues persist.
Also try to desist on auto and quicksave. These will eventually corrupt through constant use.
I'd suggest Streamline, even if it's only used for it's multi-save feature.

I have a sandybridge computer with a very good nvidia card and I still get CTDs and I don't have many mods. I don't think Oblivion likes newer computers. I just save often.
