It would be nice if the developers could have actually been creative and innovative when it comes to difficulty setting rather then applying the same boring and flawed formula they have used in every previous game that has met with a lot of criticism. Maybe focus on making the AI or enemy behavior more responsive, faster or aware; or add more enemies or something; or reduce passive regeneration... Rather then turning all enemies into un-releastic damage sinks while being able 2-3 shot your character... Just makes it aggrevating and you essentially look for more ways to exploit poor enemy AI. I played on expert since the start but set it down to adept since the increased difficulty is more just increased annoyance than anything with the amount of enemies that would kill me instantly while I inflict only a sliver of health with a fire ball.
