/70/ voice actors?

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 10:56 am

Uhh... I dunno about you guys, but I've heard the same 5 everywhere I've gone. Not to mention the constant repetition of dialogue as I pass by. I thought this was going to change, but all it seems is that the same formula is in, just with new voices.

Quest related NPC's usually have a separate voice everything else is the same. Beats Fallout's and Oblivions VOs

70 also includes the children both male and female voices along with races. 70 really isn't that much.

Only entered Riften like 10 meters and been through a lot of Markarth and Whiterun and I haven't really noticed it.
I mean, I'm sure sound alike, but the voices, the personality and the tones make them far more varied than Fallout 3's or Oblivions.
I mean, in Oblivion it sounded like every single Altmer sounded exactly alike.

At least there reactions are cool...
"you one of the new companion members? What do you do bring them thier mead?"

"psst - hey i know who you are...hail sithis!"

"a thu'um! He just used a thu'um!!"

After werewolf tranformation
"is that hair coming out of your ears?!"
"u been cleaning your wounds? You smell like a dog."

And one gaurd in markath that said
"dont be asking questions getting into trouble, everything is fine here"
I replied "what has been happening in markath?"
He says
"see...there you go asking questions again..dont do that.."

Thats because most people are nords. Go find a breton or imperial or redguard (not everyone whos black is a redguard, theres black nords I noticed) and talk to them. New voices.
6 voiceactors per race, 3 per gender. You hear the same three male nords over and over again.

Yeah... that really creeped me the hell out. I mean Arnold is awesome I just.. (probably isn't him but the accent) don't want him in my fantasy game. It doesn't fit. <_>

I'll rather listen to the hella annoying "Wait.. I know you!" guards. *roll's eyes*

I'm definitely not feeling like I hear repetitive voices at all... or seeing repetitive characters yet either. My only complaint is the Dunmer, both male and female, do not sound like what they look like.

I don't mind the non-varied voice acting, I love how NPCs have interesting conversations though, I also love that whenever I walk into a new place there's some kind of conversation going on..

Some of these really need to be in spoiler tags.

I'm starting to think about what really happened to that beggar in Solitude who used to be a great marksman. He probably got kicked out for shooting every passer-by in the knee.

70 sounds about right.

I think you're just speaking to a lot of Nords (or just guards). There are a lot of voice actors in this.

Number of voice actors doesn't really bother me. Although if it's true they had six for each race, it seems odd they wouldn't do it relative to population size.

Hearing the same few lines every time you pass is one of the few gripes I have with the game. If you consider how many thousands of lines of dialogue the recorded for all the quests, I'd expect a couple of hundred variations on these random comments. Or, just not have them talk when you walk past. It's only really the sweet roll and arrow in the knee comments that really wind me up. Better than oblivion though. They managed to remove most of the stupid combat lines.

On a similar note, in a world where everyone wants to tell you their life story, the companions seem have little to say for themselves after they've joined you. That's OK for a merc, but ones you pick up during major quests should have just a little more depth.
