Where do I go to edit

lest say I want to change the amount learned from a skill book to 25 instead of 3. Where would I go to do this?

Search the geck for Magazine. This shows all the magazines acquirable in the game. Next, choose the one associated with the skill you want. On the right side of the dialog box, you'll see a bunch of effects. If you double click on them you'll see that they are checking for perks. The first one in the list is for if the player doesn't have any of the two perks it is checking for. Just change the values for the ones you want to edit.

That is the magazines, I am looking for the permanent books Like for example Tales of a junktown jerky vendor.

Oh, sorry.

In that case I think the books are hard-coded into the game. So you probably can't change it.

This is hardly rocket science. Search the settings list for Book, and look at what Comprehension does. Using a little initiative will save you and us an awful lot of time.

I went in and already had tried to change the comp perk , and it did not do anything. I also tried going in the way you suggested, it did not do anything. I was taking another step in trying to possibly edit the book in generl.

I'm a little baffled as to why you'd lie about it doing nothing, but you have. I've double-checked and altering fBookPerkBonus does change skill points recieved.

wow accusing me of telling lies.... amazing and rude quite frankly. Instead of being rude, if you didn't want to help in the first place then why even bother coming in and posting.

Second when changing the values and loading up the game, it did nothing for me. I never lied about anything.. but on my end the values you stated for me to change are not doing anything in my game.

This contains an edited copy of comprehension, and changes to fBookPerkBonus.

They work. I'm not sure what other conclusions it's possible to come to when you claim you've already changed them and nothing happened.

So i installed your i am right.esp.. does not work in my game my stats stay the same no matter what. Only thing I can think of is that a mod I am using is making it so it wont work.

Will disable all mods and try again and report back...

okay reporting back in .. no change whatsoever when reading a skill book does not even up my skills at all.. not sure what the issue is.. in any case I have settled on another option. Thanks anyways for the help

.. ok so editing again, i just tested my game without any mods trying to just read a skill book normal and I don't even get a skill bonus from reading a book in general so the issue lies in my save game....
well tried a new game and still no luck on any books giving me any skill points whatsoever

Well Last edit of this post for me: Well after doing some research I figured out what was going on.I had been using console commands to add xp and add a book to test the changes. If i then tried to learn any books, it would not add anything or even give me the message that my skill was upped. After giving myself the xp and the item to test it with then saving and restarting game the issue had resolved itself. I had my husband test it out in his end and he did not have the same issue as I did and by changing those things in geck, it worked for him fine. Kinda reminds me of the old showracemenu issue FO3 had...
