Four nights ago after trying to get MGE working on Morrowind I gave up and just played the game without Distant lands working. There were weird numbers flashing on the top left hand of the screen but everything was fine. The next morning when I booted up my computer, all the program windows and my browser loaded really slow. When I tried to load Morrowind I got a message like "failed to initialise renderer..get device caps failed" etc. On DXDiag, the 3d, Direct Draw and AGP boxes are greyed out so I can't enable them. I've installed the latest drivers for my card, Uninstalled Morrowind, reinstalled DirectX and have now got to the stage after again uninstalling my graphics drivers that every time I try to reinstall the drivers I get an error and it will no longer install the drivers. Is it possible that messing with the settings on my card trying to get MGE working in Morrowind has wrecked my graphics card? I'm really stressed out now. I can't even get my graphics drivers to load. My Computer is....
Acer Aspaire SA80 MMX1
Intel Celeron 3.06GHZ
2G RAM
Radeon HD 4670 1G AGP
WinXP Home.
It sounds like your pc had developed a fault that prevented you from setting MGE up properly , it is extremely unlikely that MGE could wreck your graphics card and you may have to go through a process of trial and error to determine if operating system has become corrupted and need to re-install windows and that motherboard and graphics card haven't developed faults.. Check control panel to see if windows can detect your graphics card and reinstall it if necessary. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be along to help soon, my guess is hardware failure but MGE is not the cause.
