Since it appears that no one really knows...

You can bind items in your favorites menus to number keys by pressing 1-9 while hovering over it.
Seriously I didn't figure it out till I was level 13, and my friends didn't even know till I told them. I dunno why there was no tip or something that said this.

Hope this helps. :trophy:

I got a tooltip for it. However, the tips can be hard to see. They tried to make them unobtrusive, but it also makes them easy to miss.

Tools tips? Lol, well I guess they did do a good job with making them unobtrusive, cause I haven't seen any, other then the ones you get when you trade with a shop person.

I'm not surprised, there was no mention of it anywhere, the only place to find it out is from stray pages on the internet like this one.

Game manuals, what are they for?

I am surprised that anyone can miss this. Not only does it skip going to any kind of menu, it makes the game much more seamless.

I'd say a majority of players on the PC at least got it through Steam. So no manuals for us.

Personally I'm level 23 and didn't even think to attempt to press 1-9 keys for binds. So this is good news for me. Probably make hot swapping gear easier then dealing with the quick menu. :toughninja:

Great tip, thanks. I thought it must be possible, because there is mention of the 1-9 hotkey in the manual, just no description of how to hotkey items to them :) and I never saw any tooltip for it.

Open up Steam and go to your library. Click on Skyrim and look at the links on the right hand side. The manual is now there, it wasn't on release.

Yea, I didn't learn about this until I happened upon the Skyrim PC Manual. It is available on Stream to view http://cdn.steampowered.com/Manuals/72850/skyrim_gfw_manual-07.pdf?t=1321077519.

I had a problem with that, and if I want item X in hand Y I just use the favs menu.

Steam should have online manuals for every game, at least it does for all of mine.

That could have been a problem, but I recall seeing the tool tip fir it in game as well.

No, it's 1-6 for Items/Spells and 7-9 (think only through 9) for Shouts.
