The most epic feature in Morrowind, killing people after having taunted them, no longer works for me.

I've found out at one point where I have to kill someone for a quest, after having taunted him, and having gotten the red Goodbye text, and having let him attack (and hit) me a few times, as soon as I take a swing, every npc in the vicinity comes at me swinging.

I've then tried just any random npc in the street, same deal.

I tried loading (waaaay) back, to the starting city, and there it worked fine.

If I travel there with my current save, it doesn't work either.

My brother who is playing through with me simultaneously, with the same mods (GotY Edition, Morrowind Code Patch, Always +5 Modifier, Carry Unlimited, Momoney and Better Dialogue Font), at a very similar stage of progress (Identical quests/faction memberships wise), doesn't have the issue.

I've tried going naked, no change.

Any sort of help, or suggestions, or requests for more information would be wildly appreciated.

Same mods, it works fine some way back in a saved game. I'm led to ask: are you using quicksave or autosave? Because those are known to be buggy.

I sent him a savegame of mine, he loaded it, first time it worked fine, then we started looking for the problem, the second time he loaded it it was bugged again.

I proceeded to reinstall, no mods, load savegame, clicked okay at the complaints, it worked fine, loaded it again, and it was bugged.

I'm at a point now when I'm wondering if there's an alternative, if taunting to get mobs to attack me doesn't let me attack them, is there something else that will (some sort of cheat?)

I'll try the Frenzy spell now.

Frenzy has the same result.
