Congratulation to Bethesda on a job well done

Hello all,

I should receive my preorder in a few days, but I already watched many youtube videos

Way back in the days of Morrowind, modders tried to improve the game in many way
Hoping to create a more immersive world, but there is always a limit to what can be done on one own free time

I am impressed, even shocked by the efforts made by Bethesda to create Skyrim

mining, cooking, smithing, enchanting, alchemy ... all done to an unexpected degree to say the least
With verry neat animations

A wildlife so full and so vibrant that I could just go out there and hunt in the wild, forgetting all the quests
Or maybe just set up my own farm if I marry the right person, taking care of cowns and chickens

I was also verry impressed by the art style. The faces have the right mix of ruggedness and beauty
And the Alikr warriors walked right out of a desert with their fancy clothing
(I hope we ll get an xpack or DLC on that, as well as a foray into Cyrodil)

Of course I m in love with the nordic gear, I almost always play nord or dunmer

Well, I didn t say much about the mountains, the forests, but lets just say
its like Bloodmoon on steroid. Its gorgeous and amazing

I also saw a video of someone swimming in a lake, and it was totally gorgeous.

I m not saying it s perfect, I ve heard complaints about the UI and graphics issues
But also saw a lot of sites with solutions to most of those problems
Plenty of sites with recommended init file settings

I m not commenting the UI because I havent seen it. Seems to be the only potentialy low point.
(From what I read)
Maybe a free GUI DLC would appease us pesky PC users
Keep that in mind

UI is not as bad as people make out sometimes

It's not great or very friendly and it could be better for PC. But you can work with it fine once you get the hang of it

Agree... they did an awesome job... My only complaint is the dungeons are very similar.

I love this game. It is amazing. If I buy a gaming PC, it will be the first game I buy for it. As it is, I play on the 360 and I hours just flow away.

Phenomenal job folks!

In my opinion there's 3 major downsides to Skyrim. Luckily for me all are easily fixed with mods.

UI - While it's usable, it's not very user-friendly.

Lack of variety - Almost all bandits look the same everywhere, different types of armor are a step up from Oblivion but I personally still feels it lacks. :( There's not a massive variety of herbs from what I've seen so far while doing some alchemy, this is sort of cancelled out by including catchable bugs and fish, but it makes the world feel more empty in my opinion. And yeah, wildlife such as Boars would be a great addition.

Respawn rate of enemies - This is like 15 days or something in the game. As someone who doesn't fast-travel or use horses this makes traveling pretty damn dull, I loved the 3 days rate in Oblivion. I'd stay in a town for a day of 4-5, then move back via the road.

But all in all these few downsides are by no means enough to make this game any less than amazing. It's an almost perfect mixture of Morrowind and Oblivion.
