User created expansions

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 4:05 pm

Are there any mods of expansion size for morrowind? If not would anyone like to actually see one created. I'm doing an expansion pack mod for one of the three either skyrim oblivion or morrowind but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure morrowind had user created expansions and I'd love to add them all.

You need search no longer! Try a mod called Tamriel Rebuilt for Morrowind, (theres an Oblivion version too). It adds a massive area with a bunch of new towns as well as NPCs and quests!

Since your a modder, you may be interested to know that as they are continuing to build the project they are using a sort of method of real estate reserving new parts of the map for different mods in the future. Maybe you could contribute if you wish.

Any others though. I had not realized a morrowind had been made.

You really should learn more about the game that you want to create a massive mod for. I say that as constructive criticism.

There is at least 100 mods that are "expansion size" and about half of them are actually very good. You are not the first person to attempt an expansion for Morrowind. People have been doing it for the last 10 years.

Maybe you don't know how to search for mods or something, but a simple look through Planet Elder Scrolls will explain a lot...

So... let's see. Just off the top of my head....
- Tamriel Rebuilt
- White Wolf of the Lokken Mountain
- The Glory Road
- Silgrad Tower
- Deus ex Machina
- Havish
- Illuminated Order
- Suran Underworld
- Scourge of the Lich Father (part 1 & 2)
- Apostates to Oblivion: Beyond the Realms of Death
- Annastia
- the entire LGNPC series
- The Underground 2
- Way of the Talos

Not to mention other mods that still add a ton of content, like....
- Arcimaestro Antares Big Mod
- Amulet of Scrye
- The Illumination of Conundwala
- The Vvardenfell Libraries
- Darknut's Greater Dwemer Ruins
- Alakazar's Lamp
- Rise of House Telvanni
- The Sable Dragon (wink)
- Lothavor's Legacy
- MCA (or Starfire's NPC mod)
- NoM
- Morrowind Crafting
- Cult of the Clouds
- Blasphemous Revenants
- the Twin Lamps mods
- Sea of Destiny

And that's mostly just landmass/quest mods. There's even more amazing things if you also look at smaller mods adding content, or some of the MWSE mods.

There's also some very big projects still in the works:
Province: Cyrodiil
Skyrim, Home of the Nords
Tamriel Rebuilt
Lyithdonea: The Azurian Isles
Illuminiel's big mod (sorry, forget what it's called)
Yesterbreeze
....... just to name a few

In closing, I also have one word for you: Arktwend

Ah apparently I do not. Thanks I will try these out. I will make a skyrim expansion instead as I'm sure none have been made.

see my post in your voting thread.

stick with something is well known, honestly we need more morrowind modders and model creators, things are starting to get slow in terms of releases, the game is well known, modeling and creating creatures is very easy compared to say oblivion, and there are people like fliggerty, pluto, westly who have been creating new creatures and body models for years.

besides until we know skyrims nif file and are able to actually import the nif files what you can create is very limited

So you recommend I search these and create an expansion for morrowind.

Honestly its up to you i just suggest sticking with a game that has been out for a long time, with the file structure that is well known, and with a community that can support you,.

I just personallly hope you choose morrowind, it maybe old but you would be amazed at what people have accomplished over the years

in any case here is a link to http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?id=6083&view=Mods.Detail it will help a lot, if you need help just ask I am no model but I do understand the nif format enough to give you a basic overview.

on a side note have you ever done work with oblivion ?

A little. Not much.

Unlike most people it didn't seem to need it to me. Then again morrowind seems to need a lot. But I probably will either look for those mods or not bother.

then perhaps you should listen to what pluto said and learn about the game and the dynamics of it, if you ever need help dont hesitate to ask, the morrowind community is a very helpful bunch, and heck even a newbie like me to the modding community is able to give some help,

I say all this this as constructively as possible.

Thanks. :) I will do this and look forward to molding morrowind. First I will probably make a mod for oblivion or search to sed if my mod ideas have already been implemented for morrowind or if I'll need to add those withthe supernova I've written. It'll probably be easier to do it for morrowind as opposed to oblivion because of voicing. :) thanks for all your advice and help.

There's even a http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1057001-list-of-morrowind-modders-resources/ that has tons of links.

That's not all the resources, but it's a great place to start. ;)
