Morrowind Awards #3: Favorite Faction

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:44 pm

Previous Winners

Morrowind Award #1 Favorite NPC: Crassius Curio

The witty Crassius Curio managed to grasp the win in a close battle against Divyath Fyr.
Confirming that six even in Morrowind does in fact sell?

Morrowind Award #2 Favorite Town/City: Balmora

Balmora won the second Morrowind Award a mile ahead of the other contenders.
I do not know how though. I mean, Crassius Curio does not even live there.

Morrowind Award #3: Favorite Faction

Welcome to the Third Morrowind award.

I would like all of you to send me your 5 nominees for this election via pm or by simply replying to this thread.

Factions are allowed as long as:

- They are joinable
- Are from the Main game or its two expansions.

Cheer up.

Telvanni is my nominee.

By the way, consider only including one of each 'type' of faction in the final poll.

i.e. if Telvanni gets 22 nominations, and Mage's Guild gets 21 nominations, and House Redoran gets 20 nominations - include House Telvanni and House Redoran in the eventual poll, not the Mage's Guild. This is to prevent splitting the 'magic-lovers' vote. Much like how in America it wouldn't be fair to have Hilary Clinton, and Barack Obama run against John McCain at the same time, in the same election.

Redoran and Fighter's Guild would be mirrors
Telvanni and Mage's Guild would be mirrors
Hlaalu and Theives Guild might be mirrors
Tribunal Temple and Imperial Cult would probably be mirrors
I might consider the Imperial Legion to have no mirror, as a 'military' faction rather than just a plain fighter faction.

etc.

That is a great idea!

Also, please try to send me 5 nominees because I will be getting few enough as it is.

Great House Telvanni... iconoclastic, profane, unconventional. Every bit of lore and NPC belonging to the house are awesome, not to mention the weird mushroom towers. And I totally agree with the motto: "wisdom confers power, and power confers right. "

Also I think it would be wrong to merge all choices. Great House Telvanni has little in common with the Mage Guild (except a love for magic). The corrupt Fighters Guild doesn't fit well with House Redoran and the Thieves Guild's counterpart is the Camonna Tong. Also don't forget the Morag Tong.

And because those loves for magic are entirely different, that actually makes them one of the faction pairs with most tension between them in the whole game. I'd actually love to see if it came to Mages Guild vs. the Telvanni in the end. The mage forumites should finally decide WHERE THEIR TRUE ALLEGIANCE REALLY LIES! :chaos: So DON'T do this American election sheit; just simply put the most voted factions to the finals. That's called... what's the word?

Oh. Right.

Democracy. >: )

It is not very likely that there will even be a mages guild competing. They are not getting any votes.

I'd say five is a bit too much. Without mods, there are only 16 guilds/clans and three of those you can only join if you are a vampire and two of them are really only part of the main quest. That leaves only 11 practical guilds.

Aundae Clan

Mage's Guild

Morag Tong

Imperial Legion

Redoran is a great questline for new players, the most neutral (rather than supremely against outside aid or for it), and they live inside a giant crab in the ashlands.
Edit: Imperial Legion was really ruthless in this game, "Go get the land deed from this woman. If she doesn't give it to you, well, I'll leave that part up to you." While this was true they also seemed to care a slight bit about the dunmer, for example, the curing of the eggmine and the saving that girl from the crazy ashlanders.
The Fighters guild is also a cool guild with a few perks. Only real bad thing is that you don't get rep from doing their quests. And also screw http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:The_Necromancer_of_Vas with your strange name and your greater bonewalkers >:(
I can't really think of more, but the Morag tong sure sound like a fun questline that I've never had the luck to join :(
