hey everybody im looking for a house to stay in and their price to see what i have to save up on/ looking for a memorable or good companion i could find any suggestions?

Well, the only house i've bought so far is the one in Whiterun, the main reason being it is 5k gold and can be bought after doing a really early main story quest. I have the option to buy a house in Solitude, however it is 25k gold, so a tad pricey. As far as i'm aware to buy houses in the other main cities you have to help out a number of people in that town (you'll get a miscellaneous quest telling you 0/4 people have been helped etc.) before you even have the option to put down some gold.
As for companions, I don't really use them yet, the only one I have is Lydia (who is given to you around the time you have the option to buy the Whiterun house).
