So...what? Are there only Bats in ONE dungeon?

Post » Thu Dec 01, 2011 9:42 am

I've cleared about 27 dungeons by now, and I've only seen that really cool bats in your face thing happen twice. And that would be within the same seconds in the same dungeon they showed in the demo. That kind of upsets me. Seems like an easy thing to script everywhere. I;m fine with it not happening all the time, but at least once in a while would be cool. Makes me mad they apparently only put the effort into that ONCE in the whole game, especially given how much it adds to immersion. Unless I'm wrong and they appear other places too.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

Really hard to get an answer without my thread being punched to the bottom of the second page before anyone can read it. -_-

I'm guessing for demo purposes.

I have noticed this as well. This is simply a game breaking issue, I can't even play the game any more.

I saw bats coming from the rock ceiling in a dungeon once. I can't remember if this was in the dungeon that had the bats in the demo video. If you didn't see any bats coming from a rock ceiling, then there is probably at least one other dungeon that has them.

But that's [censored]...its obviously something they type into a console to have happen when a player walks somewhere...it isn't that hard to do...especially when you have 8 dungeon designers...you'd think one would go "and I think around this corner the PC will see some bats", you know...given that its a simple aesthetic touch? I adds alot to the realism of caves, IMO.

Pre-order canceled :stare:

Just saw some in Pinehill Cave, a cave very close to Ivarstead.

Wow... Nice catch, I didn't even notice that, you're right, I only saw the bats in the dungeon they used in the demo. Weird, doesn't seem like something hard to implement more often, likely to be fixed in a patch, if not, with mods.

Don't be sarcastic. It clearly isn't game breaking. Just a bit annoying. Why tease me, game? If you're only going to use it once, then I'd prefer you not use it at all, that way It won't really notice what I'm missing. Consistency.

Man, I forgot about those things when I started playing, then about jumped out of my seat when they popped up in BFB (I really get into my games). But even without them, the dungeons creep me out enough as is. :cryvaultboy: For example, the Nordic Barrows have that constant sound of crumbling, the same sound as Draugr coming out of their tombs... so it constantly sets me on edge wondering what will be around the corner...

Back OT: It would be a nice minor touch to caves and dungeons. I mean we get birds, foxes, hawks, ants, and insects, but no bats?

Yes I've seen it too, a couple of hours ago so it's still fresh in my memory. Gave me quite the scare actually.

Well that's the thing, we're trying to find out if they pop up in other places. I've only experienced it once, I will venture to this Pinehill Cave to see if it happens again. If we can find a third instance of them appearing in a cave or dungeon, then that should prove they pop up form time to time.

Well I hope you do find more. I'll have to do some more dungeon hopping and see if I notice some as well.

To fix this problem as soon as you enter a cave... shout the force shout and bats will appear. Works every time.
