Fallout 1 & 2 Ipod touch / Iphone port? : Fallout Series Discussion

First off, I'll say Hi, since it's my first post here

After being introduced to the Fallout series after playing through Fallout 3 and doing pretty much.. everything there is to do (Short of making every possible build there is, or RP'ing or something)

I went back and have since been playing the first 2 fallout games on PC.

Since I've heard Bethesda are supposedly creating some sort of Ipod touch / Iphone game based on Fallout, could it be possible that they could port the original two (or just one of) the original Fallout games to Ipod touch / Iphone?

First off welcome and second Bethesda dosen't have distrubution rights off the first two Interplay does and it would require rescripting of the originals on the PC to port it to the Iphone or Ipod touch,also it would be up to Interplay if they wanted to do that.

Bethesda (and id Software) will probably make a new game, likely based on FO3, for the iPhone instead of porting the original Fallouts. Given that John Carmack wants to make it, it will likely be a shooter.

On November 5, 2009 John Carmack of id Software said that, while it's nothing official yet, he has an internal proof of concept made for a Fallout iPhone game. Both Carmack and Bethesda's Todd Howard are fans of the platform and any iPhone game based on Bethesda's IP will likely be made as a joint project between id and Bethesda. Carmack said that he will likely be personally involved in making the game, although currently he is too overloaded with work on other games. "At the very least I'm going to be providing code," he said.

And Interplay actually does not have the rights to modify or port the games in any way without Bethesda's permission.

Well.. that kinda svcks. IMO I just can't really imagine a watered down FO3 on iPod / Pure shooter Fallout being that good..

I don't know how difficult it would be for them to port it over, but there's a fair few other PC games that have been ported over quite well. (Settlers IV comes to mind..)

Only issue I can imagine is creating a decent UI for it.. Can imagine the existing one would be a bit fiddly on an iPod screen
