Do you want some clans/cults based on ancient real life stuf

Post » Thu Dec 01, 2011 11:30 pm

I would like some more influence from ancient/medieval cultures from real life. I think it may be cool with being tasked with killing/driving out members of an animal blood cult because they are killing off the animals. So I walk in and have a steal xbow they are at a fire doing rituals I take cover shoot a few bolts pull the shield off my back and do real life combat moves on them.

My point is that they could look like the ancient Britons with blue paint bloodthirsty physcos coverd in furrs or naked. (please make it less real and have a loin cloth!!) Also furs wont stop a steal bolt and just your own skin wont either. So I want an XP system and more real life combat and a bit more blood.

They already did this a little. Morrowind had fit Roman guards where Oblivion had fat Greek/European knights for guards.

This thread is just so all over the place, that I have no idea what you're trying to ask.

I'd say probably not because we're in a fantasy world so we should have fantasy clans.

Did you ever watch Star Trek, TOS? Sometimes the boys would land in a place with Nazis or Romans or other earth 'clans'. To me, these episodes were idiotic. It's bad enough that most ET's in the series look pretty much like humans, but then to have the same history is silly beyond belief

I'd feel that way if I came across a bunch of American Indians in TES. Just doesn't work for me unless it somehow was integrated such as some mysterious force transported a single village of Lakota to TES lands, etc.

Lolz.

If you take a look at Morrowind, and read about it's history, and take a look at your good old high school history book, you can actually draw a lot of parallels between real world history and societies that have existed and the history and societies of Vvardenfell.

So, as a creative "jumping of point" for the design team, I think looking at history is a great way to help give the game a feeling of authenticity.

Oh, no argument but my reading of the poll implies that the actual clans & tribal names would be used rather than a general outlining of history. After all, I don't expect the game designers to come up with something 100% novel when Earth history has such good source material.

It's one thing to model a chapter of a game on the politics of 17th century France, but another to name a faction 'Huguenots'.

Well, since this thread is about "real-life stuff" I'd have to say no, and neither has anybody else.
