And wait until you try to wrap your head around the Dragon Breaks...
Dragon Breaks are nothing compared to CHIM. Or at least when asking for a straight answer on these forums
This guy is obviously yankin' all you people.
Hmm... It does kind of seem silly for him to think Tes happened on Earth, being there are elves and magic. Nonetheless, it's our duty to help people  I think. Most of your questions can probably be answered by the creation myth, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore%3a%44awn_Erais pretty short and if you have further questions ask us.
Most important thing to remember about Aedra and Daedra:
1. They are both divine, and for all intensive purposes immortal
2. They were once both the same thing, before the creation of the world. The Aedra helped to create the world, weakening themselves in the process, while the Daedra retained their original power. Thus why the Daedra can interfere in Mundus more.
3. The Nine Divines (the ones the chapels are for: Stendarr, Akatosh, Kyraneth, etc.) are Aedra, while the statues you find in the wilderness of Cyrodiil are daedra.
The Daedra all live in different planes of Oblivion, alternate dimensions over which they have total control. The Nine Divines (Aedra) are the planets around the mortal world, while the moons (2) are Lorkhan (the trickster god who convinced the other gods to create the world, after which they turned on him and cut out his heart). Lorkhan's Heart is what gave the Tribunal (Vivec and them) their powers of immortality and otherwise.
The continent of Tamriel has several provinces, or countries, that usually have different climates and generally a home race (Argonians come from the Black Marsh). Outside of the main continent of Tamriel there exist several island nations, including the Summerset Isles, Yokuda, Akavir, etc.
I'm sure you know about the major races, which each have their own unique history and culture. If you want to know about those, just ask
