Crysis 2: "Back to roots"?

Post » Fri Dec 02, 2011 9:52 pm

I know, the subject is a little bit suspicious. BUT:
In my opinion Crysis 2 isn't Crysis, because Crysis 1 was full of action and was just.. eeh like Crysis.
I'm a real Crysis FREAK and Crysis had this thing, this deep atmosphere no game else had. And the soundtrack was GREAT.
I hope CryTek repeats that with Crysis 2. "The Wall" is a great trailer, showing what I mean with this atmosphere, but the other trailers/vids don't show that..
I hope you understand me.

I made a thread about this a long time ago, its the graphical diff. that concerned me, not the atmosphere. Crysis is Crysis, and that is what matters.

yeah, I personally don't like the "jungle to city" thing.
But I liked GTA IV, the graphics were really great!
I do really hope, Crysis 2 will be better as Crysis 1, or at least like Crysis 1.
I know, Criticers said Crysis 1 wasn't that good. Personally I prefer Crysis over Far Cry (1)

Crysis 2 is the 2nd game of the series (without Warhead, which was C1 basically).
How can it even GO back to the roots?

In my personal opinion, Im actually kinda getting bored of the jungle, i mean the jungle has its moments but i dont want to just keep running through a jungle over and over. Crysis has its aesthetic Fans mainly cuase of the beach and jungle setting. You have those amazing light beams and light shafts, the amazing water effects, the sunsets, textures, all of that. It was just incredible. But the giant maps eventially did get tedious in some spots; obviously not very linear which is can be good but its still very tedious. Now obviously in Crysis 2 its taking place in New York and possibly New Jersey. So your not going to have as much of what you had in Crysis 1 but you still will have some of it. Plus, Crysis 2 is going to have things that really make this different in a good way. Like what Crytek keeps saying ( Crysis 2 will have vertical gameplay). Crysis 1 had Horizontal gameplay (if you understand what im saying). In this situation I dont see anything wrong with that cause if you think about it , it makes pefect sense. Jungles are big and open, cities are smaller than jungles but they are taller. Plus when it comes to Graphics imagine this, Deferred Lighting in a Jungle at night, all i have to say is that the moon or maybe a few bases is not going to cut it. But imagine, not only Deferred lighing, but HDR (High Dynamic Range) Lighting, and Global Ilumination, All in New York City at night time thats pretty potent already. So i kinda see more thumbs up than thumbs downs with Crysis 2. Plus (I did not think of these things until now) why would they return to the jungle, not only have they already done it but the Lingshan Islands are now trashed. The Island was shot to Hell, Frozen, and Nuked. Plus im glad these Aliens got an upgrade not only are they Bipedal, but they look badass, are badass, and they don't make me feel like im fighting flying mechanical squids, or jelly fish. So that pretty muchs sums up my opinion for now. All we can do now is wait for any chance to play the game. Also did anyone notice on the last mission on Crysis that the boss looked like the Dodge Ram symbol in the cutscene.

I've already played 2 Crysis games in the jungle, and yeh, i'll definitely miss it, but i'm also looking forward to the change in scenery.

Yeah, me too. But it will always leave gaps in the storyline.

But getting that time's PC's run it maxed out took ALMOST as much money as getting Crysis run maxed out in 2007, only slightly less. (Yeah, FC1 did look amazing in it's time, eventhough Crysis pulled the graphics further by a BIIIG step.)

xD
I think, Crysis is like a blockbuster, like a movie.
Let's hope that Crytek continues that series with C2.
