triangle behind items in inventory : V

In my inventory, behind the names of some of the items there is a small triangle pointing upwards.

Like:
hide shield
iron arrow^
iron sword^
longbow

Who can tell me what that means?

btw im playing on ps3.

That they are most likely better than your current equipment.

It's not items that I have currently equiped
Those look more like this:

hide shield <
iron sword <

they are better then your current equiped weapon, armour, note it only count raw damage/armour value, it doesn′t care if the armour is heavy or light, or if your sword has 10 fire damage enchanment, so dont follow them blindly

It means that it's the best item of that type that you are carrying.
