Fallout 4 in "Ronto"?

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:33 am

Topic title seems to say it all. Do any of you guys think "Ronto" would be a neat locale for Fallout 4 (or any other future fallout project)? I think it could be quite an interesting setting for a few reasons;
1. It would be in a completely new region, so the developers could have a little fun making new factions, lore etc etc.
2. Ronto has already been referenced in passing in "The Pitt" and seems to be a military powerhouse.
3. We won't be seeing much of the Enclave in New Vegas it seems, so by the time 4 comes out we may be ready to kick some more Enclave butt, and after their defeat in D.C. it is entirely possible they retreated to the "Ronto" area, seeing as it is already an established power outside of BoS influence.
4. Canada holds an interesting place in the fictional Fallout history. It could lead to more information on Canada's annexation, and a lot about the economic condition of the U.S before the great war (for example, what could have happened if they did not take all the resources they needed from Canada).

i know eh? sooo much potential. best part is, it is close enough to DC, that if you set the game a little while after F3, the actions of the Lone Wanderer may have an impact there too.

like 4 or 5 years ya, have canadina underground government which would really just be the rebels, US army and enclave fighting echother, idk why but would make a cool war, BoS following them up north, raiders following the water caravans, and new beasts.

Yes to Ronto, No to Enclave. Lets see a unique faction for the area - The Peoples Front of Canada... or should that be the Canadian Peoples Front? The Popular Front for Canada would just be plain silly.

YEA that be totally awesome. The game would have seasons and weather. Snow and Summer. Rain and Sunshine. I would love to explore my hometown. :D

Besides where else will they make a new fallout game? New york? Pfft no, everyone would be a ghoul, and there are already too many games that take place in NYC.

I wanna see Fallout New Orleans

New Orleans could be neat, but i think Ronto has more potential. We have already experienced fallout in a swampy wasteland in "Point Lookout" but have not had a chance to free roam at all in a place that could experience winter. Plus, CN Tower anyone? haha, there could be a story about who controls what could be the last long range communication tower. Also the CN tower is just cool, i believe it is the worlds tallest tower.

Further more, "Ronto" has neat geography. The city has a massive valley running right down the middle of it, which conveniently ends right at the downtown core. Additionally, Toronto also has a large water frontage, which could be sorta neat.

it would have to be on 2 different maps for that to work cause the closest American city to Toronto is Buffalo, and thats on the other side of Lake Ontario.

Well aren't you hilarious.

Fallout in Ronto would be awesome. Cold winters, hot summers, the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, plus we have a pretty awesome subway system.

I would love to see some sort of Quebecois faction too, maybe a group who have begun to spread their power further west?

Which you find in the House of Commons. I would say something about them but I think it will get a little to political.

How could he forget the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Eaton_Centre, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casa_Loma, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_York, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhibition_Place, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Station_%28Toronto%29 and the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_York? Depending on the quest direction Bethesda decides to go with, the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PATH_%28Toronto%29 could make for one heck of a thrill. Heck even the old http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redpath_Building_Toronto would make a great landmark.

I could go on and on.

Edit: In regards to the lore associated with this fine city, the U of T library could hold thousands of documents to read on the annexation and subsequent passification of the City and/or Province. Would be quite interesting to see what they come up with :)

this is a really good idea, it has lots of potential...

Winds and water currents brought the radiation north from states eradiating the area. American occupation forces(possibly Enclave stylized) slowly depleting in moral try to hold there ground and maintain an iron grip as the Resistance try to rid Canada of an American oppression. With the activation of the purifier canada has the chance to purify there fresh water lakes. the brotherhood of steel from the Chicago detachment start to head north into Canada in search of more Tech. An Angry Guol looking to avenge his brother who was executed by the ocupation (the guy in the artical)
force before the war.

Possible factions:
- Canadian Separatist group (negative Karma) : will stop at nothing to eliminate the Occupation force. (much like a raider Faction)

- Canadian Peoples army (Positive Karma) : Want to Free Canada but are more passive and organized, (descendants of the Canadian armed forces) (stylized after WW2 Canadian soldiers)

- American Enclave Occupation force : They are Trying to Keep control of The area at all cost (however due to the Fallout and the loss of communication to the mainland Enclave moral is low and some of the members are starting to give up and splinter off

- The Brotherhood of steel (Chicago detachment) : looking for tech

- Citizens : having mixed feelings for the Factions

- aboriginals: some neutral and some against the occupation

you could find beasts like the Sasquatch, or a wolverine in place of the death claws, Giant beaver (saber tooth even)
Play hockey as a mini game. have RCMP patrol the city ( if you liberate the city).

Fight for the control of Ronto as you Join the resistance and help liberat Canada, or help the occupation and destroy the hope of the Canadians..... war, war never changes

Good idea? Yes/no

Keep in mind, folks, that there has never been any conformation that Ronto is actually what was once Toronto, Canada. People just assumed that. What would make much more sense, actually, is that Ronto is actually what was once http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto,_Ohio, given that it's only 30 miles away from Pittsburgh and it's right down the river.
