Big Time Armorer Cheat . . .sort of

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 11:56 am

I apologize for not knowing the details, but you all will know them. There is a quest where you have to steal an ayleid helm and give it to a collector. you are given the choice of giving the collector, who is not very nice, a FAKE one. Choose the fake one. Do the quest as normal. WHEN the quest is finished, at some point go and take the helm off of the dead "collector" (you can leave and later return as he will still be dead on the throne). Its condition is permanently 0 and you can repair it to your heart's content and can max out armorer very quickly. Frankly, it's not a cheat as it is part of the game mechanics.

Thanks, that's a very good idea. I'll do that next time.

Another method.

Knights of the Nine, any/all crusader armor durability gets set to 100 when you place them on the stand in the Priory of the Nine. Get armorer to 75 then you can cycle picking up crusader armor, 'repairing' it to 125, putting it on the stand and repeat.

A third method.

Get the Amulet of Disintegration (Disintegrate Weapon & Armor 10,000pts on self) from Shivering Isles at Milchar. Once you have it, repeatedly equip and unequip the amulet until all your equiped armor is broken. Repair and repeat. The better grade heavy armors take the longest to repair. Admittedly the broken aylied crown method is probably better, but requires a long quest completion to obtain it.

Good idea, i've never come across that quest but please don't tell me which 1 it is.

The 2nd method doesn't seem to be very viable. You need lvl 75 to start off with, which for people having to resort to powerleveling via a flaw in the game will probably be a requirement they cannot fill.

Third method seems best :D more armour to fix!

I broke weapons with an infinite cast disintegrate (corrode weapon 100, fortify magicka 100*4sec). I had no idea about the ayleid crown, thanks. Definitely the best method once you reach that point.

The ayleid crown is definitely the fastest and the most effective while also not requiring any DLC, but this method seems like the easiest to get.

While you're waiting to get to those points in the game you can always just go beat up some bandits then repair their damaged gear as well as your own  .

yeah, but my way is fastest and you don't have to worry about encumberance or equiping/unequiping.

True, that's why I told you I'll do it... But right now, at level 8 it's a bit too early. I prefer later when it becomes harder to level up that skill and also the loots wil be more valuable.

I don't know if its a mistake, but http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Ayleid_Crown_of_Lindai says that this glitch only works for people with an Amourer skill of at least 75 since the helmet actually stays permanently at 100.
