Weird event in Fallout 3

Post » Mon Sep 21, 2009 4:48 pm

Hi everybody,
Weird thing happened to me in fallout but if you wont mind I will try to write it as story (need to see how much RP skill I have)

It has been about 2 months since I left the Vault, a lot of things happened since then. My best friend Dogmeat succumbed from wounds from feral ghouls (I knew it was bad idea to take my best friend in metro station), I buried him at the Citadel, so no one will ever desecrate his grave. I helped one android be free, saved Megaton from Tenpenny and helped Moira finish her book. When I needed a rest from all that chaos I decided I will search through ruins for anything that could be useful when most strange thing happened. After beating the crap from Talon mercenaries and Raiders I heard huge explosion and when I rushed to the crashsite (under cloak of stealth boy of course) I saw amazing thing. All over places were strange energy coils (Out of RP Alien ones) and one energy weapon like I never saw before, only in those old movies about aliens. And even more interesting was that there was no space ship or body, it was like out of nowhere those treasures appeared.

So my question is, is this normal? To have alien coils and weapons, without U.F.O or alien body all over place?

Sorry, that was me. What you witnessed was me blowing up an enemy spacecraft on board my now personal, mothership zeta. There are no bodies because they were incinerated upon entry of the earths atmosphere and only debris from the ship remained. Glad you didn't get hit in the head by a piece of falling space junk, them aliens shouldn't have rolled up on me like that. They won't do it again, oh that's right. They're space dust now. Too bad, so sad.

Yes, Flying Saucer crash.

Oddly I think this happened soon after my starting a character on my very first play through. But never happened again in a long time.

Very random, rare and normal.

Out of my 1000+ hours of fallout 3, this only happened to me once, on my PC near tenpenny tower. Kinda rare I guess.

I'm green with envy. I've played this game for 500+ hours, and I've never had this encounter. Honestly, I think you guys are just making it up! :)

Make sure you found the Firelance. Most unique weapon in the game. But use it wisely; the ammo is limited.

Yeah the gun was Firelance but there is no way to obtain more ammo? And no we are not making it up ;)

How much http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Alien_Power_Cell is available depends on which DLCs are or aren't installed. 362 cells in Fallout 3 alone, 1152 if both Broken Steel and Mothership Zeta are present according to the Wiki. :)

You can find more ammo. Such as the alien crash site, and some of the add-ons.

The Firelance random event isnt actually so hard to get....all you have to do is come upon one of the areas where a special random event will occur...hopefully if you save alot you'll have a save that's just far enough away from said area to recreate it over and over....just keep reloading and walking back into the area and you'll get different events untill eventually you'll get the Firelance event...now the tough part is actually finding the damn thing once it's dropped....I could not for the life of me find it after about an hour of searching...this is where good ole Dogmeat is perhaps his most useful....if he's not already with you go get him and tell him to search for weapons....he'll find it in no time.....

It's much easier for me to find both ammo and Firelance at dusk. The ammo glows, and the weapon's shape doesn't look like a rock...

Random. You'll need Dogmeat to find the gun if it's near cliffs or water. Try raising your Luck, it might happen sooner. If Dogmeat isn't with you, mark it on your Pipboy then return with him to search. If he's dead get the Puppies perk. If you want to solo wait for night, they glow. This encounter can also happen without the BOOM, it just means it was on the edge of your map.
