Randomly Cool Thing...

The woman painting a picture of the lighthouse in Anvil just for some reason struck me as one of the coolest things I've thus far in any game...
...no idea why, it just kinda tickled me.

It is little things like that which I love about Oblivion. In Morrowind the NPCs are usually glued to the spot, and stay awake 24 hours a day. Granted, it makes selling your loot easy, because you can do it at any time. But it kind of ruins the immersion. In Oblivion the NPCs actually do things, like go eat lunch, work in the garden, pray in the chapel, sleep during the night, etc... It makes them seem more like real people, rather than toons in a game.

Yeah I know, the characters are much more interactive which is great and I'm enjoying that. I've even been locked IN by a character and had to pick the lock to get out of their house, which was great because I had not expected them to LOCK THEIR DOOR when they left!!

I just wanted to point out that your character has a cute butt. ;)

The thing that really blew me away is that the perspective of painting she's doing matches exactly the pov of where she's standing. They could've easily half heartedly had her painting the light tower, but that's a pretty specific/precise thing to do which just makes it that much more immersive.

It's actually even cooler that it appears. Her husband Pinarus Inventius is involved with the the Sirens (ie alleged prosttutes) and so there marriage is not doing too well. Maybe one reason she spends a lot of time painting.

Snigger yes I know, she does indeed, but I don't think I would want to be too close to her when I told her that though. Especially if she was having one of her "moments"... :D

Yeah it's pretty funky actually, they've clearly put a lot of thought into it which is great.

One reason why I claim Cyrodiil feels more alive than Morrowind. As you later stated in your post, kinda immersion breaking

That is not the only marriage in trouble in Anvil. Heinrich Oaken-Hull's wife Hasathil has a habit of meeting Enilroth behind the stable...

And of course in the Imperial City we have Irene Metric′s and Roderic Pierrane′s meetings at night. But oh yes, they are just friends ;)

I must give this to Oblivion; The Schedules were simplistic but worked well enough.

If you compare it to what was promised though......

It also makes it randomly hilarious when there are bugs in the AI packages. UOP's have fixed most of those, but the vanilla game had a lot of people with no access to their own bed, or taking 12-hour meal breaks and the like. In a few cases, the packages were set to the wrong location, and NPC's would commute from one city to another, and usually get killed on the way.

I think they did great, their schedules might have been simplistic but they were to my opinion realisic enough, and could tell alot about a NPC

It would be quite deep if that paintion appears in Skyrim as well :P In a shipment or in a house of a art collector or something
