Alterations in Morrowind should "Morrowind 2" be created.

If Bethesda was to create "Morrowind 2" what would be significantly different from it and Morrowind 1 in terms of lore? This is assuming "Morrowind 2" takes place shortly after Oblivion. Obviously the first thing to consider is that the tribunal is dead or mostly dead, Dagoth Ur is dead, many of the cities have been damaged or destroyed by the Oblivion crisis and would likely be in the process of rebuilding, the Emperor is dead and returning to independence is probably on a lot of Dark Elf minds.

Basically this thread is for the discussion of the changes in Morrowind that would have to be accounted for if a new game were to take place there, and for discussion of the opportunities to create quests in which the player character could interact and change this new environment.

A significant difference is that it wouldn't need to exist because the Nerevarine prophecies were fufilled. Thus, a sequel wold be pretty unnecessary.

Theoretical question for better understanding the social and physical changes to Morrowind, and for the entertainment value of imagining the Morrowind setting redone. The reality of the need or possibility of a "Morrowind 2" is irrelevant.

The Dagoth Ur/Sixth House/Nerevarine saga wasn't the only major conflict going on in Morrowind, naturally....it's a very interesting place politically and it would be very interesting to see how things have progressed IMO.

Like Hairdo said, there were alot of other things to do in Morrowind besides being the Nervarine, plus they could (also) visit the mainland this time....
There are alot of excisting stories to use to revisit Morrowind and even more stories that can be made up to revisit it...

Anyway.... I wouldn't really like the idea unless it would be (a part off) the mainland with some other provinces...

I guess around the boundries of blackmarch and Morrowind would deliver quite some stories :D

What I would like to see is how the great houses solved differences. The Nerevarine was there to re-unite the Aslanders and the great houses so politics and intrigues should be even more prevelant.
The Oblivion crisis would also be of consequence to politics. And how are the ex-slaves? Are they truly equal or still treated like dirt?

Agreed. I would love to have a "scattered" plot consisting of an incredible amount of faction quests dealing with the fall of the Great Houses, border conflicts (Skyrim comes to mind), the conflict between the (now debased) Tribunal Temple and the Imperial Cult, all of the guilds, Morrowind's possible seccession from the empire, King Helseth's rauaging of Morrowindian politics, and more. However, I think that Bethesda can go somewhere else and do a lot more than just Morrowind.

Something I wonder is what would happen to the Ashlands/RedMountain now that the blight's source has been destroyed? It should open up room for travel by merchants and the commoners, but it also seems like it would be a lawless place, maybe it would become a harbor for bandits. Would be interesting to see the areas surrounding Red Mountain to turn into almost a "western" atmosphere with small towns taking advantage of the new land to build on, outposts and the like.

Mythopeically speaking Morrowind has come and gone - but mythagoes never die ...

Still Hairdo has hit it ... and there is a lot there still to be resolved.

Thus I would look for a full expansion that could approach or surpass the content of a full release. The thing about Morrowind was we saw 3/5 Houses + Mournhold ... but there is Dres! And it appears that Dres could be the strangest of them all. So bring back the Morrowind team and set them free to expand :D

I rather feel that Dres and the Bosmer have some kind of strange syncronicity - both have a predatory weirdness ... yet nothing about them is precisely the same, yet there are parallels and tangents. Having said that we know the real puller would be Vampires. Boogie, boogie, boogie.

Well, it would need the mainland, and a lot of it would likely be the social and political upheaval of the Tribunal's dissapearing and Helseth's imperialization of the government, turning the monarchy into a powerhouse. Also, the guilds in the waning days of the Empire (and between the empires of the Septims and the Medes).

I personally wouldn't mind if any potential "Morrowind sequel" actually revived the Elder Scrolls Adventures series, and wasn't so much a true RPG. There are many ways to tell a story with this established lore.

(A personal favorite idea would be a war game of some type focusing on the conflict between the Nords and House Redoran, perhaps RTS style. Maybe even a beat-um-up ala Dynasty Warriors, except with elves, orcs and big nordic men. But I digress. There's a different forum for ES series discussion)
