Any bored building/interior modders feel like helping out wi

So here's the thing,

I've been making a system of bounty hunters as part of UV, and that got me thinking about fights. UV's really at its best when fighting NPCs (as is DR really). As a side effect of making the bounty hunters I now have a system to generate random NPCs and equip them to their level. - something that's actually not trivial to do. For now i'm just assigning them the status of bounty hunters - i.e. they randomly attack you in the wilderness if you have a bounty - with their levels based on your fame/infamy, but that seems like a very minor thing for such a complex and flexible set of scripts.

Then I started thinking - well the only good place to fight NPCs is the arena really. How about doing some work on that. But then I though that that could lead to a lot of conflicts and what with all the rules, I find it a little limiting. So what about somewhere else to fight? So here's my idea. I want to set up a secret "fight club" probably under a tavern somewhere, or for extra coolness, underwater using the bravil sea domes as a basis. I started playing with he idea, but it quickly became apparent that I'm not going to be able to make the location myself. I can script it once I have it, organise the fights, allow you to challenge random NPCs to fights there at particular times, even set your reward based on how interesting the fight was for the watching crowd. but I just can't make the building look less than awful.

so here's my question. Does anyone feel like making this? Does it seem like a worthwhile thing?

I don't want to do anything as elaborate as the oblivion tournament mod. I was thinking much more an underground fighting bar with a big cage or pit.

Opinions? Offers?

Sounds worthwhile. I would find it interesting to watch and if the one could watch combatants before betting (if one is allowed betting as a spectator) that would be nice. Problem with the arena is that it's just like buying a lottery ticket (although I heard the yellow team is good :D ).

All I do is tweak numbers in the Construction Kit/TES4Edit, never modelled anything so far; haven't even fixed land tears or floating stuff even though I have heard that is real easy.

And yeah - I would probably try a fight or two myself.

The thought of going downstairs in a tavern somewhere to a pit surrounded by cheering spectators is oddly thrilling.... but that is human kind for ya :)

Cheers!

Sounds like a neat idea. The city guards would likely try to shut something like this down (although having a chance of a 'raid' by the city guards would be an interesting twist). What about moving it to a remote location, like an abandoned Imperial fort? You could script in the occasional Imperial Legion 'raid' or a 'raid' by a rival underground organization (or both).

Sounds wonderful. Are you after the actual meshes, or just the interior being made?

Interesting idea. Random chance of a shed load of guards turning up? I like it :D

I'd be perfectly happy if it was made entirely with vanilla meshes, or with modders resources. Really my problem is simply that I have no eye for laying out anything. Every tine I try it looks spectacularly awful - like i'd just let the dog stand on the keyboard and chew the mouse, I get frustrated and throw away otherwise good ideas. It's why I don't make quest mods.

So knowing my limitations, I'm appealing for help with the stuff I find hard. In the same way I've occasionally asked for mesh/texture resources and several times requested animations.

I'm going to give this one bump, and if it disappears again then i'll just let the idea die peacefully.

I could give it a go Hex. :D Seeing as I recently lost my boot drive and consequently everything I was working on except for a two week old copy of my village, I seem to have a bit of available time. :lmao: Let me know the specifics of what you want built and I'll see about tossing it together.

An interesting idea, but can I suggest that you make the fight area unique? I always felt the arena was flat and boring would it be possible to have traps and maybe multiple levels? Otherwise best of luck :foodndrink: .

I'll see what I can do. :foodndrink: As it is, the "arena" itself is certainly unique...and anything else you'll have to wait for. MWAHAHAHA

What about different battlefields?
When we want fight we can chose what kind of battlefield we want:
- valley
- forest
- underwater (a wonderfull underwater fight. You must kill your enemy before you drown)
- labyrinth (you must find your enemy)
- cliffs
- swamp
- flying platform (You or your enemy can fall down)
- High tower (perfect for the idea of dberger. A tower of 15-20 floors were we must pay attention to the traps)

If I may make a suggestion...

The LeyawiinFGBasemant tileset in the CS seems like a good set of resources for a secret "fight club". It has 2 levels to it already, an upper area for spectators, and a lower pit area for fighters. It seems like the right size for a basemant fight area: wide enough to run around and fight in, but not too spacious like the arena.

And maybe for a slightly lower class fight club, maybe use the Chorrol basemant as a base? It's only one level but it does have an area suitable for fighting. Not spacious like the Leyawiin basemant so it's more for a really close quarter fighting type of feel.

The plan for this part of the mod is already thrashed out, and Whoguru is building it to the specifications we've determined between us. I don't really need any more suggestions as the plan is already quite ambitious. All I'll say is it will be very unique and very exciting, and will be left as a surprise. It's always nice to have something new to look forward to in a mod.

So as to not get anybody's hopes up or down, i'd like a mod to close this topic before it gets filled with suggestions i'm not going to be implementing.

Thanks,

HeX
